If you're reading this *before* you installed the software, give
yourself a gold star on your brownie chart. You're one of the
relatively few people who read the documentation before installing
the software. You are of clearly superior character.
Congratulations!
On the other hand, if you're reading this *after* you've installed
the software, don't worry. You're doing what almost everyone does
when they install software, including me. And knowing this, I set
it up so you won't have any problems anyway.
The installation program creates a directory (C:\WIN500) as the
default, but you're welcome to change the directory and drive if
you wish. The installation program copies the files to
subdirectories within the directory and creates a Program Manager
Group. You'll need about 6Mb of space on the disk you install the
software on. (The installation procedure will check to make sure
there's enough room before it starts installing.)
NOTE: The installation program makes *no* changes to the WIN.INI
or SYSTEM.INI files.
To install the software:
1. Go to the File menu on the Program Manager and select Run.
2. In the dialog box, select INSTALL.EXE on this disk.
3. Click OK in the dialog box to run INSTALL.EXE.
That's all there is to it! The installation procedure will take
care of most of the details. You'll need to provide some
information occasionally, but it's mostly automatic. The README.TXT
file (displayed at the end of the installation procedure) will give
you important additional information about the programs you've just
installed.
NOTE: These disks are companions to The Windows Shareware 500,
published by Ventana Press. Not all of the software contained on
these disks is free; much of it is shareware and requires payment
if you intend to use it regularly. Please refer to the individual
documentation and Help files for each program on the disks for
information about payment.
All shareware on these disks as well as all programs reviewed in
the book are available on America Online. You can find this
software in the Ventana Press Windows Shareware 500 Library
(keyword: WIN500). For more information about how to install the
America Online software, please refer to the enclosed America
Online starter disk. For more information about any of the disks
included with The Windows Shareware 500, please see Appendix B.
If you have questions or comments about the book or the disks, I'd
love to hear from you. Write to

Thank you for reading The Windows Shareware 500. I have provided
you with a fast and easy way to register your shareware. Just print
out multiple copies of this form and send in one for each shareware
program you use.
=================================================================
Yes! I want to keep the shareware concept alive! That's why I agree
that it's important to send in my shareware payments for any
shareware I use on a regular basis. I also know that registering
shareware is the best way to make sure I'll receive future versions
of the best new software.
