  17. <p>The Adaptec Storage Manager supports the following RAID volume types:<br>

  21.     <li><strong>Simple Volume</strong> - a single disk drive or <a href="gsegment.htm">segment</a>;

  27.     <li><strong>Spanned Volume</strong> - two or more disk drives or <a href="gsegment.htm">segments</a>
  28.       with the same or different capacity, connected end-to-end. A spanned volume
  29.       offers no redundancy or performance advantage over a single drive.<br>

  32.     <li><strong>RAID Volume</strong> - two or more logical devices with the same
  33.       RAID level, connected end-to-end. The logical devices may have the same or
  34.       different capacity and are <strong>not</strong> <a href="cstripe.htm">striped</a>
  35.       together; they may be redundant, depending on the RAID level.<br>

  38.       create the individual logical devices before you create a RAID Volume. Use
  39.       the <a href="ccfgstep.htm">Configuration wizard</a> to create the logical devices; then, run the Configuration
