  1. Installation Instructions for a NetWare 3.X server.
  2. 2May95
  3.  
  4. (These instructions assume that you have already installed NetWare
  5. Connect.)  
  6.  
  7. 1. Exit the NWC console if it is running.
  8.  
  9. 2. Do NWCSTOP from the server console.
  10.  
  11. 3. Down the server.
  12.  
  13. 4. EXIT to DOS.
  14.  
  15. 5. Make a directory on the server's hard drive called PATCH.
  16.  
  17. 6. Make a subdirectory under PATCH called DISK1.
  18.  
  19. 7. Put NWC001.EXE into the DISK1 subdirectory and unzip it:
  20.      NWC001   <enter>
  21.  
  22. 8. Make a subdirectory to PATCH called DISK2.
  23.  
  24. 9. Put NWC002.EXE into the DISK2 subdirectory and unzip it:
  25.      NWC002      <enter>   
  26.  
  27. 10. RUN SERVER.EXE
  28.  
  29. 11. LOAD INSTALL
  30.  
  31. 12. Choose "Product Options"
  32.  
  33. 13. Press INSERT
  34.  
  35. 14. Enter the path to the DISK1 directory.
  36.  
  37. 15. Follow the instructions  
  38.  
  39. 16. Restart Netware Connect with NWCSTART.
  40.  
  41. 17. Reload your AIO driver(s).
  42.  
  43. 18. Copy the following new files to the remote PCs (and any
  44. workstations on your LAN which will functioning as remotes).     
  45.      NRN.COM*
  46.      DIALCON.EXE*
  47.      NETWARN.COM*
  48.  
  49. 19. Copy NASI.EXE* to any workstations on your LAN which will be
  50. functioning as remotes.
  51.  
  52. *NOTE: It is extremely important that the old versions of all 4 of
  53. these files be replaced on ALL workstations.  
  54.  
  55. 20. Install the current SPX fix for your server: 
  56.   A. On a NetWare 3.11 server
  57.      - SPXFIX2.NLM     8/20/93*
  58.      - SPXFSFIX.NLM    8/20/93*
  59.      - SPXLISFX.NLM    8/20/93*
  60.      - PATCHMAN.NLM    2/4/93*
  61.      - STREAMS.NLM     7/20/93*
  62.      - SPXS.NLM        9/14/93*
  63.      - TLI.NLM         9/14/93*
  64.          * or later
  65. These files are in STRTL3.EXE which can be found in Library 4 of NOVLIB.

  67.   B. On a NetWare 3.12 server
  68.      - PM312.NLM       11/11/93*
  69.      - STREAMS.NLM     7/20/93*
  70.      - SPXS.NLM        9/14/93*
  71.      - TLI.NLM         9/14/93*

  73. These files are in STRTL3.EXE, which can be found in Library 4 of
  74. NOVLIB.

  76. 21. See item #1 in "Solutions Specifics" of NWC001, for instructions
  77. regarding the use of the new NetWarn utility.

  79. NOTES
  80. ----- 
  81. Reinstalling NetWare Connect
  82. If you reinstall NetWare Connect, do not try to use an old
  83. NWCSTART.NCF file.
  84.  
  85. Using NRN over X.25
  86. To use NRN to connect to an X.25 network, do the following:
  87.   - Specify the Modem type as "Manual" in DIALCON.
  88.   - Add the /PASS option on the server, as follows, when you load
  89.   AIOPAD:
  90.      load aiopad x25board=boardname x25port=portnumber /pass
  91.  
  92. The /PASS option disables AIOPAD from performing X.3 processing in
  93. data transfer mode.  This allows RNS to operate more efficiently.
  94. Using the /PASS option, however, prevents the user from going into
  95. command mode and changing the X.3 PAD parameters.
