  4.   The NetWare/IP Administration menu allows you
  5.  to manage all aspects of setting up a primary
  6.  DSS server, a secondary DSS server, or a
  7.  NetWare/IP server. You can select one of the
  8.  following options from this menu:
  9.  Configure NetWare/IP Server
  10.      This option allows you to configure this
  11.      server as a NetWare/IP server by
  12.      defining the NetWare/IP domain.

  15.   Delete NetWare/IP Configuration
  16.      This option allows you to remove all
  17.      NetWare/IP configuration information 
  18.      on this server. You should use this option
  19.      to deconfigure NetWare/IP on this machine.

  21.  Configure Primary DSS
  22.      This option allows you to configure this
  23.      server as the primary DSS. You must
  24.      configure a primary DSS for NetWare/IP
  25.      to function.

  28.  Configure Secondary DSS
  29.      This option allows you to configure this
  30.      server as a secondary DSS. You should
  31.      configure at least one secondary DSS
  32.      server to provide redundancy.
  33.  Delete DSS Configuration
  34.      This option deconfigures this server as a
  35.      DSS. You should use this option if you do
  36.      not want this server to be a DSS or you
  37.      want to change the server from a primary
  38.      DSS to a secondary DSS or vice versa.

  40.  This screen contains allows you to view or
  41.  enter the NetWare/IP domain. The NetWare/IP domain
  42.  conforms to the same naming conventions as DNS. 
  43.  The NetWare/IP domain must reside at the bottom
  44.  of the DNS hierarchy: it cannot delegate
  45.  authority to domains below it. This domain must
  46.  encompass all nodes (servers and clients) in the
  47.  NetWare/IP internetwork. It includes all nodes
  48.  serviced by the primary DSS and its secondaries,
  49.  regardless of where the hostnames of those nodes
  50.  fall within the DNS hierarchy.

  53.  If this machine is acting as a gateway and has
  54.  two boards, an additional field appears which
  55.  asks you to select the Preferred IP Address.
  56.  (NetWare/IP can only bind to one board.)  
  57.  Pressing <Enter> on this field displays a list
  58.  of available IP addresses. Select the preferred
  59.  IP address from the list.
  60.  Preferred DSSes
  61.      This option allows you to optimize the network
  62.      traffic between this Netware/IP server and the
  63.  <Esc>=Exit Help                    <PgDn>=Next

  65.      the DSS that this server uses. A DSS
  66.      preference is specified by providing either a
  67.      DSS hostname (or ip address) or a partial
  68.      address (to be used in selecting those DSSes
  69.      whose ip address matches the given partial
  70.      ip addres).
  71. Initial DSS Contact Retries
  72.      The number of times the NetWare/IP server
  73.      retries contacting a DSS at startup. This is
  74.      useful when the Netware/IP server starts
  75.      before any of the DSSes are ready.

  78. Retry Interval
  79.      Time between the Initial DSS contact retries.
  80. Slow Link Customizations
  81.      This option allows this server to access
  82.      remote Netware/IP servers over slow links
  83.      (otherwise, some applications could time out
  84.      when connected to remote servers). This won't
  85.      be necessary in most cases. Where necessary,
  86.      you should customize by providing a remote ip
  87.      network/host and the approximate one-way time
  88.      it takes to ping to a host on the remote site.

  91.      Time is specified in Ticks (1/18th s). Use the
  92.      NetWare ping utility to get a time estimate.
  93. Forward IPX Information to DSS
  94.      Specifies whether this NetWare/IP server
  95.      should act as a forwarding gateway. A
  96.      forwarding gateway connects IP and IPX network
  97.      segments. The default is no.

  99.   You use this form to configure the primary
  100.  DSS. You must configure the primary DSS for
  101.  NetWare/IP to function.
  102.  The primary DSS supports all servers and
  103.  clients on a NetWare/IP internetwork, allowing
  104.  you to set up a centralized administrative
  105.  domain.
  106.  Once configured, the primary DSS handles
  107.  SAP/RIP requests and database replication
  108.  automatically. It is recommended that a server
  109.  that has relatively low utilization be
  110.  designated primary DSS.

  113.   This form contains the following fields:
  114.  NetWare/IP Domain
  115.      This field contains the NetWare/IP domain.
  116.      The NetWare/IP domain conforms to the
  117.      same naming conventions as DNS.

  119.  Primary DSS Hostname
  120.      This field contains the fully qualified
  121.      hostname of the server. For example,
  122.      hostname.domain.com.

  124.   IPX Network Number (in hex)
  125.      This field displays the IPX external 
  126.      network number. You can assign an
  127.      arbitrary hexadecimal number, one to eight
  128.      digits (1 to FFFFFFFF), but the number
  129.      must be unique for the IPX network.
  130.  Tunable Parameters
  131.      This field contains the DSS tunable
  132.      parameters. Pressing <Enter> on this field
  133.      displays the Tunable Parameters form. You
  134.      can view and modify the parameters from
  135.      the form.B

  137.   You use this form to configure a secondary
  138.  DSS. You must configure a primary DSS before
  139.  configuring a secondary.
  140.  The secondary DSS provides for faster service
  141.  and redundancy. Each secondary contains a
  142.  read-only copy of the DSS database that
  143.  automatically obtains information from the 
  144.  primary DSS. Therefore, it is recommended that
  145.  you configure one secondary DSS per 
  146.  subnetwork.

  176.   You use this form to configure DNS. You 
  177.  must set up DNS, before you configure a DSS
  178.  or NetWare/IP server.
  179.  This form contains the following fields:
  180.  DNS Domain
  181.      Enter the fully qualified DNS domain name.
  182.  Nameserver
  183.      Enter the IP address of the first DNS
  184.      nameserver to contact to resolve queries.
  185.  Use the additional Nameserver fields to
  186.  identify secondary and tertiary nameservers.

  188.  This form allows you to view and modify the
  189.  DSS parameters. If you decide to modify any
  190.  parameter after your initial configuration,
  191.  you must stop and then restart each server
  192.  in the NetWare/IP internetwork and then each
  193.  client must logout and then log into the 
  194.  network.
  195.  This form contains the following fields:
  196.  UDP Port Number for NetWare/IP Service
  197.      This parameter specifies the port numbers
  198.      assigned for NetWare/IP service. The
  199.      configuration process assigns two
  200.      consecutive ports. The default is 43981 in
  201.      a range of 1 to 65535.

  205.  DSS-Netware/IP Server Synchronization Interval
  206.      This parameter specifies how often a
  207.      NetWare/IP server queries DSS for updated
  208.      information. The default is 5 minutes in
  209.      a range of 1 to 60.
  210.  Primary-Secondary DSS Synchronization Interval
  211.      This parameter specifies how often a
  212.      secondary DSS queries the primary DSS for
  213.      updated information. 
  214.  Maximum UDP Transmissions
  215.      This parameter specifies how often the
  216.      same packet information is re-sent if no
  217.      acknowledgment is received. The default
  218.      is 3 times in a range of 1 to 48.

  221.  UDP Checksum?
  222.      This parameter specifies whether
  223.      transmitted information should be checked 
  224.      for errors. The default is No, to provide 
  225.      the fastest transmission service.
  226.  Ticks between Netware/IP Nodes
  227.      These parameters specify the approximate
  228.      one-way time (in ticks, 1 tick = 1/18 sec)
  229.      between two Netware/IP nodes on the same
  230.      IP subnet, same IP net and different IP
  231.      nets.
