Specify DOS Partition Size Help 1 of 1
To install the NetWare operating system,
INSTALL requires a DOS partition of at least
5 MB.
The NetWare system volume (SYS) requires at
least 25 MB of disk space. If you have only
one hard disk, make sure it has at least 30 MB
of storage (5 MB for the DOS partition, 25 MB
for the NetWare partition with volume SYS on
it).

Active Partition not a DOS Partition Help 1 of 2
By default, the installation program copies server
boot files to the active partition on the first
hard disk (device 0). However, the active partition
on this computer is not a DOS partition.
Normally, this error prevents you from proceeding.
However, some boot manager utilities allow you to
boot your machine from one partition, and then
select another partition to be used for that
session. In this case, the DOS partition would not
be marked as active.

first hard disk (e.g. D:). The installation
program cannot detect this case.

partition is not large enough to hold the
NetWare server boot files.

may have a utility that allows you to use

Use your existing STARTUP.NCF? Help 1 of 1
When SERVER.EXE loads as part of installation,
your STARTUP.NCF file won't be executed. This
avoids any incompatibilities between your
previous STARTUP.NCF file version of the
NetWare operating system being installed.
The existing STARTUP.NCF file will be invoked
as SERVER.EXE loads. This allows any
drivers in your "old" STARTUP.NCF file to be
loaded when the server comes up.

Can't Find Existing SERVER.EXE Help 1 of 1
INSTALL cannot find your SERVER.EXE file.
If you are upgrading this server, a
previous NetWare version should be installed
on this computer. Specify the directory
containing the previous version of
SERVER.EXE.
If your previous SERVER.EXE file is on a
removable drive or no longer exists, specify
a null path here.

Special Set Commands Help 1 of 1
There are only limited reasons why you would want to
specify special startup commands.
The most common of these reasons is the case in which you
have a driver that requires memory below 16 megabytes, and
your machine has more than 16 megabytes of memory.
If you know you have such a need, choose "Yes", otherwise
choose "No".

Expanded Memory Help 1 of 1
A NetWare server cannot be loaded if an Expanded
(EMS) Memory Manager (such as EMM386.SYS) is
loaded. These drivers conflict with NetWare in
their use of memory.
In order to install and run NetWare on this
machine, you must remove the appropriate driver
from your CONFIG.SYS file and reboot the machine.
<Esc>=Exit Help
Not Enough Memory Help 1 of 1
After loading the installation program there is not
enough free memory to load the server. There must be
enough memory to load this program, and to have
sufficient remaining free memory to load the server as
well.
You must exit this program and remove any unnecessary
TSRs or other programs that are using memory. When you
have freed up enough memory, you may restart the
installation.
<Esc>=Exit Help
Filename Format Help 1 of 1
Under most circumstances you will want to choose DOS filename
format. This will give you compatibility with DOS, as well as with
future releases of NetWare.
You should not choose NetWare format filenames unless you have a
specific need for non-DOS compatible filenames.
If you are upgrading an existing server, and there are files on your
server which contain any of the characters that NetWare allows as
lower case, and if you choose DOS filename format, VREPAIR will change
the lower case characters to upper case when the volume is mounted.
The DOS filename format is used by the NetWare DOS requester (VLM) no
matter what you choose here. The NetWare shells (e.g. NETX) will work
with either DOS format or NetWare format filenames.
