  2. Installation Instructions on a NetWare 3.X Server
  3. 3MAR95

  5. *** WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions may result in your
  6. having to reinstall!! 
  7.  
  8. NOTES:
  9. 1. If your server is running NetWare 4.1 DO NOT install this patch.  Instead, download the NetWare 4.1 patch, HPT009.EXE and HPT010.EXE.
  10.  
  11. 2. The HPT006 series requires NetWare for SAA 1.3.42 (or later), for successful installation.
  12.  
  13. I. Create a directory on the server called PATCH.
  14.  
  15. II. Create subdirectories under PATCH:
  16.      DISK1
  17.      DISK2
  18.      DISK3
  19.  
  20. III. Put HPT006.EXE into DISK1.
  21.  
  22. IV. Type  HPT006  to unzip HPT006.EXE
  23.  
  24. V. Put HPT007.EXE into DISK2.
  25.  
  26. VI. Type  HPT007  to unzip HPT007.EXE.
  27.  
  28. VII. Put HPT008.EXE into DISK3.
  29.  
  30. VIII. Type  HPT008  to unzip HPT008.EXE.
  31.  
  32. IX. *IF* you will be managing Host Print with Netware for SAA Services
  33. Manager (SSM):
  34. - Create a DISK4 subdirectory.
  35. - Unzip HPT004.EXE into it.
  36. - Install HPT004.EXE on the workstation as follows:
  37.   A. START Windows    WIN   <enter>
  38.  
  39.   B. Select FILE/RUN under Program Manager.
  40.  
  41.   C. RUN PATCH\DISK4\SETUP.EXE
  42.  
  43.   D. From "NetWare for SAA Service Manager Setup" select the "Add
  44.   Services" option.
  45.  
  46.   E. You will be notified when HPT004 installation is complete.
  47.  
  48.   F. Return here and complete the following steps.
  49.  
  50. X. *IF* HostPrint is on a NetWare 3.11 server:
  51. - Create a DISK5 subdirectory.
  52. - Unzip HPT005.EXE into it.
  53. - Read and follow the instructions in HPT005.TXT.  
  54. - Return here and complete the following steps.
  55.  
  56. XI. With the server active, but COMMEXEC.NLM not running:
  57.   A. UNLOAD HOSTPRT (if already loaded)
  58.   B. CSDOWN
  59.   C. UNLOAD COMMEXEC  (to make sure it is unloaded)
  60.   D. LOAD INSTALL
  61.   E. Select "Products Options"
  62.   F. Press the INSert key
  63.   G. Enter the correct path to DISK1.  (see item I and II above,
  64.   INSTALL will install the appropriate files from DISK1, DISK2 or
  65.   DISK3 as applicable.
  66.  
  67. For example:  SYS:\PATCH\DISK1
  68.  
  69. Install will inform you when the upgrade is complete.
  70.  
  71. XII. Verify that the upgrade has taken place:
  72.   A. Load INSTALL.
  73.   B. Select the "Products" option.
  74.   C. Select the "Currently Installed Products" option.
  75.   D. HostPrint should now be at Version 1.10.10.
  76.  
  77. XIII. The install script has installed the NetWare 4.0x print
  78. utilities (USED ONLY FOR HOSTPRINT), in SYS:\SYSTEM\HPPRINT to
  79. separate them from the NetWare 3.1x print utilities in the server's
  80. PUBLIC directory used for NetWare printing.  Reconfigure PRINTDEF and
  81. PRINTCON for use with HostPrint.  This will create new PRINTDEF and
  82. PRINTCON database files, based on NetWare 4.01.   
  83. This is important, as the PRINTCON & PRINTDEF files in SYS:PUBLIC must
  84. not be overwritten by this patch.
  85.   A. If you are in Windows, exit Windows.
  86.  
  87.   B. Logout of all servers.
  88.  
  89.   C. Login to the NetWare HostPrint server as SUPERVISOR.
  90.  
  91.   D. Be in SYS:SYSTEM of the HostPrint server with a search mapping to
  92.   the \PUBLIC directory.
  93.  
  94.   E. Run "HPDEF" from SYS:\SYSTEM.
  95.  
  96.   F. Select "Export Print Devices" from the Options menu.
  97.  
  98.   G. When finished exporting, press <ESC> to return to the Options
  99.   menu.
  100.  
  101.   H. Press <ESC> to exit and select "Save Data and Exit".
  102.  
  103.   I. Change to the HPPRINT subdirectory of SYSTEM.
  104.  
  105.   J. Run PRINTDEF to import the devices you created with HPDEF.
  106.  
  107.   K. Choose "Print Devices" from the "Available Options".
  108.  
  109.   L. Choose "Import Print Device".
  110.  
  111.   M. The screen gives the source directory name as "Public", change it
  112.   to "SYSTEM".
  113.  
  114.   N. You will see a list of available .PDFs.  Pick one you will be
  115.   using.
  116.  
  117.   O. Pick another you will be using.
  118.  
  119.   P. Continue the process until you have selected all the PDFs you
  120.   will be using.
  121.  
  122.   Q. *If* HostPrint jobs will utilize print queues on servers in
  123.   addition to the HostPrint server, select "Change Current Server",
  124.   and login to each such server as SUPERVISOR or EQUIVALENT and repeat
  125.   the steps listed in "J." through "P" above.  
  126.  
  127.   NOTE: Ideally, you should have supervisor equivalent rights. 
  128.   However, if you do not, a workaround is to Copy PRINTDEF.DAT from
  129.   the PUBLIC directory, of the HostPrint server to the PUBLIC
  130.   directory of the target server.
  131.  
  132.   R. Run "PRINTCON" from the SYS:\SYSTEM\HPPRINT directory of the
  133.   HostPrint server to create new print job definitions to be used for
  134.   HostPrint. 
  135.   Refer to the NetWare HostPrint Administration Guide, starting on
  136.   PAGE 2-22 and follow the program prompts.  The PRINTCON database
  137.   file PRINTJOB.DAT will be created/updated in SYS:\PUBLIC, when
  138.   PRINTCON is executed.
  139.   NOTE: Print jobs previously created with the earlier version (3.1x)
  140.   of PRINTCON will no longer be usable by HostPrint since their format
  141.   is different from the new, NetWare 4.0x PRINTCON utility.

  143. NOTE: HostPrint does not use device modes created in PRINTDEF.
