3X.TXT Installation Instructions on a NetWare 3.X Server 3MAR95 *** WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions may result in your having to reinstall!! NOTES: 1. If your server is running NetWare 4.1 DO NOT install this patch. Instead, download the NetWare 4.1 patch, HPT009.EXE and HPT010.EXE. 2. The HPT006 series requires NetWare for SAA 1.3.42 (or later), for successful installation. I. Create a directory on the server called PATCH. II. Create subdirectories under PATCH: DISK1 DISK2 DISK3 III. Put HPT006.EXE into DISK1. IV. Type HPT006 to unzip HPT006.EXE V. Put HPT007.EXE into DISK2. VI. Type HPT007 to unzip HPT007.EXE. VII. Put HPT008.EXE into DISK3. VIII. Type HPT008 to unzip HPT008.EXE. IX. *IF* you will be managing Host Print with Netware for SAA Services Manager (SSM): - Create a DISK4 subdirectory. - Unzip HPT004.EXE into it. - Install HPT004.EXE on the workstation as follows: A. START Windows WIN B. Select FILE/RUN under Program Manager. C. RUN PATCH\DISK4\SETUP.EXE D. From "NetWare for SAA Service Manager Setup" select the "Add Services" option. E. You will be notified when HPT004 installation is complete. F. Return here and complete the following steps. X. *IF* HostPrint is on a NetWare 3.11 server: - Create a DISK5 subdirectory. - Unzip HPT005.EXE into it. - Read and follow the instructions in HPT005.TXT. - Return here and complete the following steps. XI. With the server active, but COMMEXEC.NLM not running: A. UNLOAD HOSTPRT (if already loaded) B. CSDOWN C. UNLOAD COMMEXEC (to make sure it is unloaded) D. LOAD INSTALL E. Select "Products Options" F. Press the INSert key G. Enter the correct path to DISK1. (see item I and II above, INSTALL will install the appropriate files from DISK1, DISK2 or DISK3 as applicable. For example: SYS:\PATCH\DISK1 Install will inform you when the upgrade is complete. XII. Verify that the upgrade has taken place: A. Load INSTALL. B. Select the "Products" option. C. Select the "Currently Installed Products" option. D. HostPrint should now be at Version 1.10.10. XIII. The install script has installed the NetWare 4.0x print utilities (USED ONLY FOR HOSTPRINT), in SYS:\SYSTEM\HPPRINT to separate them from the NetWare 3.1x print utilities in the server's PUBLIC directory used for NetWare printing. Reconfigure PRINTDEF and PRINTCON for use with HostPrint. This will create new PRINTDEF and PRINTCON database files, based on NetWare 4.01. This is important, as the PRINTCON & PRINTDEF files in SYS:PUBLIC must not be overwritten by this patch. A. If you are in Windows, exit Windows. B. Logout of all servers. C. Login to the NetWare HostPrint server as SUPERVISOR. D. Be in SYS:SYSTEM of the HostPrint server with a search mapping to the \PUBLIC directory. E. Run "HPDEF" from SYS:\SYSTEM. F. Select "Export Print Devices" from the Options menu. G. When finished exporting, press to return to the Options menu. H. Press to exit and select "Save Data and Exit". I. Change to the HPPRINT subdirectory of SYSTEM. J. Run PRINTDEF to import the devices you created with HPDEF. K. Choose "Print Devices" from the "Available Options". L. Choose "Import Print Device". M. The screen gives the source directory name as "Public", change it to "SYSTEM". N. You will see a list of available .PDFs. Pick one you will be using. O. Pick another you will be using. P. Continue the process until you have selected all the PDFs you will be using. Q. *If* HostPrint jobs will utilize print queues on servers in addition to the HostPrint server, select "Change Current Server", and login to each such server as SUPERVISOR or EQUIVALENT and repeat the steps listed in "J." through "P" above. NOTE: Ideally, you should have supervisor equivalent rights. However, if you do not, a workaround is to Copy PRINTDEF.DAT from the PUBLIC directory, of the HostPrint server to the PUBLIC directory of the target server. R. Run "PRINTCON" from the SYS:\SYSTEM\HPPRINT directory of the HostPrint server to create new print job definitions to be used for HostPrint. Refer to the NetWare HostPrint Administration Guide, starting on PAGE 2-22 and follow the program prompts. The PRINTCON database file PRINTJOB.DAT will be created/updated in SYS:\PUBLIC, when PRINTCON is executed. NOTE: Print jobs previously created with the earlier version (3.1x) of PRINTCON will no longer be usable by HostPrint since their format is different from the new, NetWare 4.0x PRINTCON utility. NOTE: HostPrint does not use device modes created in PRINTDEF.
