README.SH 10/07/91
This README file lists enhancements and changes to the Shell 3.01
Program diskette. These enhancements and changes are not yet
documented in the Shell section of the PlanPerfect Reference
Manual. Each enhancement or change is listed by Reference Manual
section and feature. This file replaces README.SH1 and README.SH2
referred to in the documentation.
For instructions on how to use a new feature, use the Help
feature (F3).
INTRODUCTION TO SHELL
If you have DOS version 2.1 or earlier, certain Shell features
(such as Screen Copy and macros that use advanced programming
commands) may not work properly.
MACROS: Defining a Shell Macro
Shell now allows the use of Macro Define (Ctrl-F10) to define a
LetterPerfect macro and Macro Execute (Alt-F10) to execute a
LetterPerfect macro from within LetterPerfect. These macros only
work with LetterPerfect 1.0 version dated 11/01/90 or later.
MACROS: Defining a Shell Macro
Shell now supports the international interface for Shell macros.
Yes="+" and No="-."
MACROS: Executing a Shell Macro
Shell now temporarily removes the comments and unnecessary codes
from Shell macros upon execution to decrease the amount of work
space needed.
SETUP: Hotkey Assignments
The Hotkey Assignments option has been added to the Shell Options
menu (4,2,9). With this option you can assign a custom hotkey to
take the place of the Ctrl-Alt, Alt-Shift, and Ctrl-Shift key
sequences. Previously, certain hotkey sequences would not work
with some brands of computers and third party programs (e.g.,
Ctrl-Alt-Space and some Shift-Alt-macros).
SETUP: Screen Save
The Shell Screen Save feature now works with programs executed
from the Shell menu, provided the Swap Shell Out option on the
Program Information screen is set to No. The Screen Save option
also has a new Save in Graphics Mode selection that allows you to
specify if you want Screen Save activated in graphics mode.
STARTUP OPTIONS: /na Startup Option
If you experience display problems with Shell prompts that come
up in programs running under Shell (e.g., Screen Copy or Shell
macro prompts) try using the /na (No Attributes) option which
turns off the Bold and Underline in Shell prompts. Some graphic
cards have problems interpreting the Bold and Underline
attributes.
STARTUP OPTIONS: /sa Startup Option
Shell now supports the /sa (Stand-Alone) startup option which
starts Shell in stand-alone mode, even if in a network
environment.
PLANPERFECT: Installation
For additional information about starting PlanPerfect Programs
with Shell, see the README.PL file.
