* DESCRIPTION *
I recently downloaded the TI99EMUL TI99/4a emulator from comp.sys.ti, and
decided it needed to look more like the real thing. It was no fun using a
TI computer that had the PC's lousy font! So I decided to port the TI's old
font over to the PC.
Using the excellent shareware program called FONT MANIA 2.2 (made by REXXCOM
Systems), I have created a small (3,491 byte) file that changes the IBM font
to the original TI99/4a font. Using the emulator is 10 times as much fun when
it looks like it's supposed to.
Notice this is the BETA version 0.9 of the font. Why? I've never actually
used a TI before, and I don't know where some of the special characters
should be. While I did use the actual TI character bitmaps, I wasn't sure
where to put some of them (like the copyright symbol). Additionally, I
didn't know if the character set repeated itself like some of the old 8-bit
sets do. If I get email with info on this, I will produce version 1.0 which
will be (hopefully) 100% accurate. Right now, the (C) symbol as well as
the TI logo characters are left out simply because I don't know where they
go.
* HOW TO USE *
Usage of this font is very simple. Just type in the filename, TIFONT, and
the font is instantly installed. Then type TI99EMUL to run the TI emulator.
If you'd like more info on special command line parameters, type TIFONT /?
and you'll get an info screen.
I have only tested the font on a VGA display, although it should run OK on
EGA and CGA systems.
