  5. In 1760 another story was added to the original 
  6. small two-story house and it was enlarged. The 
  7. center of the main fasade is marked out by a 
  8. six-column portico that united the two 
  9. lower stories; the third story remained an attic. In 
  10. the course of the following reconstruction a wing 
  11. was added to the old house parallel to the 
  12. embankment; it contained gala halls of striking 
  13. grandeur.Since 1830 the palace was owned by 
  14. Prince N.Yusupov, one of the richest men in 
  15. Russia. On the night of December 17, 1916, the 
  16. monarchist conspirators killed G. Rasputin here.
