  3. The use of standardized/widely supported APIs for OSI applications has increased
  4. over the last couple of years. The most widely used at present are those
  5. supplied by the X/Open group. As the X/Open APIs are being standardized by the
  6. IEEE, they will carry a greater weight in the networking community, regardless.
  7. Many implementors are having problems with interpretation of these
  8. specifications.

  13. Technical discussion relating to the specification, interpretation,
  14. implementation, purpose, and use of APIs in the Open Systems/OSI field.

  16. This list aims to put implementors of the APIs in contact with each other, as
  17. well as the groups which formulate the specifications (X/Open/IEEE at present).
