  3.     My company, Sierra Geophysics, is a member of the POSC
  4. (Petrochemical Open Software Corporation), which defines a system
  5. level standard that includes, among other standards, the POSIX.1
  6. interface.  To that end, we are currently searching for a test suite
  7. that will allow us to judge the application compliance to the POSIX.1
  8. system interface.  I am aware that X/Open is currently phasing out its
  9. application conformance program due to the lack of test technology to
  10. insure application conformance to the XPG standard, so this raises
  11. the question as to X/Open's future plans in the application branding
  12. arena.  Are there any test suites in existence that test for POSIX.1
  13. conformance within an application?  I am aware of several tools available
  14. from SunSoft, SPARC International, and AT&T, which test for appplication
  15. compliance to SVID3, but these would require a significant amount of 
  16. database modification to allow for POSIX.1 conformance testing.  POSC 
  17. is in a similiar position to that of X/Open in that we do not wish to
  18. mark an application as POSC compliant if it has not passed a suffient 
  19. test suite.  I would greatly appeciate any information that you can
  20. share with me regarding tools that you have evaluated or developed,
  21. which might offer the functionality required for POSC to evaluate
  22. application compliance to the POSIX.1 standard.
