  5. I have been given the task of developing a comprehensive hardware
  6. evaluation procedure for our company.  This procedure should cover
  7. *everything*, from CPU benchmarking to standards compliance.
  8. I have no idea where to start with this, so I'm soliciting help
  9. from the net.
  10.  
  11. Some specific questions I have are:
  12.  
  13. 1)  Is there an existing suite of programs to test a system for
  14.     POSIX compliance?
  15.  
  16. 2)  Is it possible to get copies of the code used to do the TPC/A
  17.     and TPC/B benchmarks?
  18.  
  19. 3)  Where can I get copies of the code for other benchmarks?
  20.  
  21.  
  22. And in general, could anyone offer some advice as how to approach
  23. this task?  How do I go about developing a process generic enough
  24. to evaluate two systems as different as say, an RS/6000 and an NCR
  25. Enterprise 90?  *AND* come up with results that make a valid
  26. comparison?  Are there any books on this topic?  Any organizations
  27. where 'hardware evaluators' hang out?
