  1. The standards BOF at the Phoenix USENIX last week (mentioned
  2. in Volume 11 Number 52) had a much higher attendance than previous
  3. standards BOFs.  There were about fifty people there, most with
  4. relevant questions, and some with answers.  It is not clear
  5. that everyone was pleased with everything I and others told
  6. them, but I think some now have a better idea of what is going on.

  8. The twenty copies of the Rationale that I made beforehand
  9. disappeared quickly, as did the thirty I made afterward,
  10. and the forty copies of the draft standard.

  12. I do not know to what to attribute this new, higher level
  13. of interest on the part of USENIX attendees, but it was there.
