  1. This is the first article in Volume 5 of mod.std.unix/std-unix.
  2. These volumes are strictly for administrative convenience.  This
  3. one starts now because I mailed copies of Volumes 3 and 4 to the
  4. P1003 committee chair with my ballot on the Trial Use Standard
  5. (I'm the representative of USENIX on the P1003 committee).
  6. Paper copies of volumes 1 and 2 had been delivered previously
  7. and several committee members follow the newsgroup on-line.

  9. Feel free to continue any discussions from the previous volume
  10. or to start new discussions.

  13. The USENET newsgroup mod.std.unix is for discussions of UNIX standards,
  14. particularly the IEEE P1003 draft standard.  It is also distributed
  15. in an ARPA Internet mailing list.  I'm the moderator, which mostly
  16. means I post what you send me.

  29. be retreived by anonymous ftp (login anonymous, password guest)
  30. as ~ftp/pub/mod.std.unix, while the previous volumes may be retrieved
  31. as ~ftp/pub/mod.std.unix.v1, ~ftp/pub/mod.std.unix.v2, etc.
  32. The volume with the AT&T public domain getopt(3) is ~ftp/pub/mod.std.unix.v3.
