  84. <h1>Change a Token Name</h1>
  85. <p>You can change the name of a token that you have imported to a device.</p>
  86. <p class=Note><span style="font-weight: bold;"><B>Note:</B></span> If your administrator 
  87.  has disabled the Change Token Name option, this option is not displayed 
  88.  in the SecurID desktop application, and you cannot rename tokens.</p>
  89. <p>When issuing you a token, your administrator may assign the token a 
  90.  nickname (for example, "My VPN Token"). After you import the 
  91.  token, this nickname is displayed at the top left of the SecurID desktop 
  92.  application. If the administrator does not assign a nickname, the application 
  93.  displays the token's serial number, for example, 000056781234.</p>
  94. <p>If you have more than one token, renaming them allows you to quickly 
  95.  identify and select the one that you need to access a specific resource.

  97. <p>When you open the Change Token Name dialog box, the name of the token 
  98.  that you are currently using is displayed. To change the name of a different 
  99.  token, you must first select that token, as described in <a href="selecting_a_token.htm">Select 
  100.  a Token</a>.</p>

  108.     The token name can contain from 1 to 24 alphanumeric characters and
