  1. 3D Studio 3.0 Help File: Text Editor Drop-Down Menus

  3. Each entry can contain up to 20 lines, 70 characters long.
  4. Don't use tabs; only use spaces.
  5. This file can be any length.
  6. New Help topics begin with the ">" character, followed by the 
  7. numeric code assigned to the topic.

  9. >110 (Current Status)
  10. Current Status displays the size (in bytes) of the current 
  11. document and the number of text lines.
  12. >120 (Configure Scripting)
  13. Configure Scripting lets you customize the current configuration 
  14. of the Text Editor via a dialog box.
  15. >210 ( New           ^N )
  16. New deletes all text from memory.  Use this to free up memory 
  17. used by the current document before exiting to the 3D Studio 
  18. program module.
  19. >220 ( Load          ^L )
  20. Load loads a selected ASCII text file from disk, replacing the 
  21. current document.
  22. >230 ( Save          ^S )
  23. Save saves the current document to disk in an ASCII text file 
  24. using the filename and extension you specify.
  25. >240 ( Merge         ^M )
  26. Merge loads a selected text file and combines it with text 
  27. currently in memory.  The merged text appears at the cursor 
  28. location.
  29. >250 ( Exit          ^Q )
  30. Exit returns you to the program module from where you entered 
  31. the Text Editor.  It doesn't delete the current document from 
  32. memory.
  33. >310 ( Undo          @U )
  34. Undo reverses the most recent editing action.
  35. >320 ( Cut           @X )
  36. Cut deletes highlighted text and saves it to the clipboard buffer, 
  37. where it remains until you next cut or copy text.
  38. >330 ( Copy          @C )
  39. Copy copies highlighted text and saves it to the clipboard buffer, 
  40. where it remains until you next cut or copy text.
  41. >340 ( Paste         @P )
  42. Paste inserts the clipboard text into the current text document at 
  43. the cursor location.
  44. >350 ( Delete       del ) 
  45. Delete deletes highlighted text.
  46. >360 ( Select All )
  47. Select All highlights all text in the current document, which you 
  48. can then Cut or Copy to the clipboard, or delete with the Delete 
  49. command.
  50. >410 ( Help          @H )
  51. Help displays the keyboard shortcuts, which you can use to move 
  52. the cursor and edit text in the Text Editor.
  53. >420 ( Search        @S )
  54. Search locates all instances of a specified text string within the 
  55. current document.
  56. >430 ( Replace       @R )
  57. Replace locates all instances of a specified text string within the 
  58. current document, and then replaces each instance with another 
  59. specified text string.
  60. >440 ( Goto          @G )
  61. Goto moves the text cursor to a specified line number, or a 
  62. previously defined "anchor" point.
  63. >450 ( Drop Anchor   @A )
  64. Drop Anchor defines up to five "anchor" points within the 
  65. current document, which you can quickly locate with the Goto 
  66. command.
  67. >460 ( Match         @M )
  68. Match locates the matching closing bracket--either }, ], or )--for 
  69. the corresponding opening bracket to the right of the text cursor-
  70. -either {, [, or (.
  71. >470 ( Match & Select @T)
  72. Match locates the matching closing bracket--either }, ], or )--for 
  73. the corresponding opening bracket--either {, [,  or (--and then 
  74. highlights the text between them.
