About European Focus Photography
James A. Derheim started "European Focus Photography" as the result of a daydream.
While on a trip to Bremerhaven, Germany, while working as a photojournalist for the
"European Stars and Stripes" newspaper in the winter of 1990, Jim had the
unique idea of supplying professional photographs and associated materials
to people with European ancestry who for some reason or another could not travel to
Europe themselves.
Jim put more than a year into development of this new business before he found
his first paying customer. A woman from Sacramento, California paid Jim the
whopping sum of $85.00 to photograph the two towns of Rostock and Ribnitz,
Germany. This project actually cost Jim $235.00 - but he had his first client.
Jim's customer was overjoyed. She was thrilled with the photograph of her long
lost cousin sitting in the living room of her tiny apartment in former East
German controlled Rostock. She soon told all of her friends in her local
genealogical society about this amazing service and Jim had three more clients.
Today "European Focus Photography" counts its yearly clients not in the ones
and twos but in the hundreds.
Jim now has the last laugh on the "Doubting Thomases" who told him he'd never
be able to make a living providing this kind of service to genealogists. Family
historians that attend many of the larger genealogical fairs and jamborees have
met Jim at his booth where he shows photographs and advertises his work.
Even with phenominal growth since his daydream, European Focus Photography
remains a small organization. All of the photography is still being done
by Jim Derheim. The personal touch that is responsible for each and every
customer's total satisfaction is never jeopardized.
The photographs you are enjoying today on the Palldium Interactive
"World Photo Album" are the result of many individual projects done for genealogists
just like you. While some clients of "European Focus Photography" have actually
been to their ancestral villages, or plan to go someday, most want the assurance
of professional, exceptionally clear and colorful photographs of their ancestral
church, the town square, the countryside around their ancestral town or the headstones
of the ones who were left behind - so that they have something of high quality
to leave behind for the generations to follow.
It is this strong desire - felt by people just like you, coupled with extremely
personal, customized service that has put "European Focus Photography" on the
map as not only the originator of a very unique concept - but far ahead of any
imitators who may follow in the years to come.
The photographic files of "European Focus Photography" contain vast numbers
of negatives taken since 1990 in thousands of villages and towns all across Europe.
"European Focus Photography" is no mere "file photo" agency. Individual
genealogists can have custom designed photographic portfolios created for them in
their ancestral towns or villages. A genealogist gest exactly what is of interest
to them personally.
The photographs presented here are fine representative samples of what is
available for each of these separate localities, there are hundreds of other
locations that are not featured here because the accumulation of photographs
is a continual process.
Contact "European Focus Photography" today to find out how many other photographs
