  6. card installed.
  7. Description:
  8. Avid Cinema 1.1.3 replaces all earlier versions of Avid Cinema,
  9. except for version 1.1.2 which is identical to 1.1.3.

  11. Depending on which Macintosh computer you have, you will need either
  12. "J-Avid Cin 1.1.3 54xx-64xx.img" or "J-Avid Cin 1.1.3 75xx-85xx.img".
  13. You do not need to download both of these files. Follow these
  14. guidelines to determine which file to download:
  15.  
  16. * If you have a Power Macintosh or Performa 54xx, 64xx, or 6360,
  17. download the "J-Avid Cin 1.1.3 54xx-64xx.img" file.
  18.  
  19. * If you have a Power Macintosh 7500, 7600, or 8500, download the
  20. "J-Avid Cin 1.1.3 75xx-85xx.img" file.
  21.  
  22. * If you have a Power Macintosh 5500, 6500, or 8600, you must install
  23. 1.1.3 from the 1.1.3 Installation CD which includes an update to
  24. 7.6.1. This CD includes additional files necessary to run Avid Cinema
  25. on these platforms and is available when you purchase the 1.1.3 kit.

  27. This software consists of a Disk Copy compressed image, which requires
  28. Disk Copy 6.1 or later to use. Download this software to your hard drive
  29. and then double-click it to use it. Disk Copy is available in the
  30. Utilities folder.

  36. Avid Cinema 1.1.3 Update README

  38. The following contains important information regarding
  39. installation of the Avid Cinema 1.1.3 Update, fixes/changes
  40. from previous versions of the software, and information
  41. about Macintosh platforms and system software you need to
  42. have in order to upgrade to this version of Avid Cinema.

  44. IMPORTANT!!!!
  45. You must be running Mac OS 7.6.1 on your system before
  46. installing Avid Cinema 1.1.3.  Avid Cinema 1.1.3 does not
  47. support versions of Mac OS earlier than 7.6.1.  Customers
  48. with 7.5.3 or 7.5.5 should use Avid Cinema version 1.1 or
  49. 1.1.1 which has the same features as the 1.1.3 version.  Mac
  50. OS version 7.6 is not supported with any version of Avid
  51. Cinema.

  53. Existing customers with Performa and Power Macintosh models
  54. 5400, 6400, 6360, 7500, 7600/132 and 8500 can use this
  55. internet method to upgrade to 1.1.3.  Customers with Power
  56. Macintosh 5500, 6500/225, 6500/ 250, 8600 models must
  57. install 1.1.3 from the 1.1.3 Installation CD which includes
  58. an update to 7.6.1.  This CD includes additional files
  59. necessary to run Avid Cinema on these new platforms and is
  60. available when you purchase the 1.1.3 kit.
  61. Note:  Customers who purchased Creative Studio 6500/275
  62. machines configured with Avid Cinema version 1.1.2 do not
  63. need to update to version 1.1.3.  These software versions
  64. have the same functionality.

  67. New Functionality in 1.1.3
  68. Avid Cinema version 1.1.3 supports Mac OS 7.6.1.  Existing
  69. Cinema customers should run this version of Cinema if they
  70. want to work with 7.6.1.  Customers who purchased the
  71. Creative Studio 6500/275 which is configured with Cinema
  72. version 1.1.2 do not need to upgrade to 1.1.3 because 1.1.2
  73. supports Mac OS 7.6.1.

  75. The 1.1.3 version also corrects an audio level problem with
  76. versions 1.0, 1.1 and 1.1.1.  Previously when sending movies
  77. out to tape the volume on the tape may have recorded lower
  78. than expected.  This required you to have to turn up the
  79. volume on your television in order to hear your videotape. 
  80. Version 1.1.3 corrects this and the volumes will be higher
  81. when you send your movie out to tape.  Customers with
  82. Creative Studio 6500/275 machines configured with Avid
  83. Cinema version 1.1.2 do not need to update to version 1.1.3
  84. for this fix.

  86. The 1.1.3 version also fixes a problem with versions 1.0,
  87. 1.1, 1.1.1 when using non-local number formats which
  88. displayed incorrect characters in the "Disk Space Remaining"
  89. area in the Bring Video In Tab.

  91. Customers running versions of the Mac OS earlier than 7.6.1
  92. must upgrade to 7.6.1 first, before upgrading to Avid Cinema
  93. 1.1.3.

  96. Installing the Avid Cinema 1.1.3 Update:
  97.  
  98. The compressed "Avid Cinema 1.1.3 Update" file you
  99. downloaded contains 3 items:
  100. *    The Avid Cinema 1.1.3 application
  101. *    The Avid Cinema extension 
  102. *    These README instructions
  103.  
  104. These files do not have a built-in installer, and you must
  105. manually replace your old Cinema application and extension
  106. with these new files. 
  107.  
  108. To do this:
  109. 1)  Open your hard drive and open the applications folder.
  110. 2)  Locate the Avid Cinema folder.
  111. 3)  Drag the new version of the Avid Cinema application
  112.     (round colored icon) over the Avid Cinema folder until it is
  113.     highlighted, and release the mouse.  You will get a dialog
  114.     asking you if you want to replace the existing version. 
  115.     Choose <OK>.
  116. 4)  Open your hard drive and locate the System Folder.
  117. 5)  Drag the new version of the Avid Cinema Extension over
  118.     the System Folder.  You will get a dialog asking you if it's
  119.     OK to place this in the Extensions folder.  Choose <OK>. 
  120.     You will then get another dialog asking you if you want to
  121.     replace the existing version in the extensions folder. 
  122.     Choose <OK>.
  123. 6)  Restart
  124. 7)  Launch Avid Cinema

  126. Note:  If you had made an alias for your older version of
  127. Avid Cinema on your desktop, this alias will no longer work
  128. and you will have to make a new one.
