  19. This Readme explains who should use the Avid Cinema 1.1.5
  20. Update, what changes are included in this update, and how to
  21. install it over the Web.

  23. Who should use the Avid Cinema 1.1.5 Update?
  24.  
  25. The Avid Cinema 1.1.5 Update is for all Avid Cinema users.
  26. If you are running:
  27.  
  28. * Avid Cinema 1.1.4 - You should upgrade to version 1.1.5,
  29. because you can now resave movies in electronic file format
  30. (such as Internet/WWW) without renaming them.
  31.  
  32. * Avid Cinema 1.1.3 - You should upgrade to version 1.1.5 so
  33. that you can resave movies in electronic file format (such
  34. as Internet/WWW) without renaming them, or upgrade to Mac OS
  35. 8.0.

  37. * Avid Cinema 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2 - You should upgrade to
  38. Mac OS 7.6.1 or 8.0 and Avid Cinema 1.1.5 to take advantage
  39. of the revisions in recent versions of the product.

  41. * Avid Cinema 1.0 and you plan to use the Avid Cinema 1.1.5
  42. Update, you need to download Avid Cinema 1.1 from the Web
  43. and install it first.

  45. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 5500/6500 USERS:  Before installing the
  46. Avid Cinema 1.1.5 Update on a Power Macintosh 5500 or 6500,
  47. you need to have installed Avid Cinema from the CD included
  48. in the Avid Cinema 1.1.3 standalone kit.  Installing Avid
  49. Cinema from version 1.1.1 of the standalone kit will not
  50. install the files necessary for the 5500 or 6500 to run Avid
  51. Cinema.  The 1.1.5 Update will only work on Power Macintosh
  52. 5500 or 6500 machines if you have previously done a FULL
  53. install of 1.1.3, or if Avid Cinema was preinstalled by
  54. Apple on these machines.

  58. *  Avid Cinema 1.1.5 supports Mac OS 7.6.1 and 8.0.

  63. *  In the Bring Video In Tab,  a stop sign no longer appears
  64. in place of the camcorder icon.

  66. *  For users of Avid Cinema 1.1 and 1.1.1, version 1.1.5
  67. also corrects the following problems:

  69. -   Previously, when sending movies out to tape, the volume
  70. on the tape may have recorded lower than expected.  This
  71. required you to have to turn up the volume on your
  72. television in order to hear your videotape. The volume will
  73. now be higher when you send your movie out to tape.

  75. -   Non-local number formats now display correct characters
  76. in the Disk Space Remaining area in the Bring Video In Tab.

  79. Installing the Avid Cinema 1.1.5 Update
  80.  
  81. The compressed Avid Cinema 1.1.5 Update file is a
  82. self-extracting file.  When you double click this file, a
  83. dialog box prompts you to name the folder and choose a
  84. location in which to save it.  Choose your desktop, and keep
  85. the default name for this file.

  87. The new Avid Cinema 1.1.5 Update folder contains:
  88. *    The Avid Cinema 1.1.5 application 
  89. *    This 1.1.5 Web Update Readme 
  90. * The Avid Cinema Guide (online help file)

  92. To install the Avid Cinema 1.1.5 Update:
  93.  
  94. 1)  Locate the previous Avid Cinema folder.
  95. 2)  Drag the new version (1.1.5) of the Avid Cinema
  96. application file and the Avid Cinema Guide file over the 
  97. previous Avid Cinema folder until it is highlighted, and 
  98. release the mouse.  Two dialogs ask if you want to replace 
  99. the existing versions.  Click OK on each dialog.
  100. 3)  Launch Avid Cinema.

  102. Note:  If you have an alias for a previous version of Avid
  103. Cinema, this alias no longer works and you should make a new
  104. one.

  106. IMPORTANT:  To use Apple Video Player after installing Avid
  107. Cinema, you must set your monitor's resolution to 640 x 480
  108. and thousands or millions of colors.
