  8. Bible Study (Old Testament - Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus) Version 1.4:

  10. The GEN7 Bible Study allows the text of the Bible to be
  11.   viewed and searched using the keyboard and the mouse.
  12.   Bookmarks may be placed where the cursor is, and the 
  13.   limits of searches may be restricted to what the user
  14.   selects.  The Up and Down arrows at the edge of the
  15.   window are sensitive to the upper left corner of the 
  16.   cursor to scroll the window up or down.  The commands:
  17.  
  18.         Alt-C - Goto a specific chapter.
  19.         Alt-L - Set the search Limits.
  20.         Alt-I - Initialize Search Parameters.
  21.         Alt-S - Search for keyword(s).
  22.         Alt-N - Create a new bookmark (Using letters
  23.                 A thru Z as markers).
  24.         Alt-D - Remove a previously set bookmark.
  25.         Alt-G - Goto a previously set bookmark.
  26.         Alt-V - Visit all set bookmarks.
  27.         PgUp  - Page the display up.
  28.         PgDn  - Page the display down.
  29.         Home  - Display the first page in search range.
  30.         End   - Display the last page in search range.
  31.         F1    - This Help screen.
  32.         ESC   - Exit the Bible Study.

  34.   Parameters for Searching:
  35.  
  36.     The following questions are asked:  
  37.  
  38.       Is the order that the words are found not important 
  39.         (any ordering ok)?  A yes answer returns lines
  40.         containing the search words in any order, no means 
  41.         the order the words are entered is important.
  42.  
  43.       Return line(s) with any subset of requested words 
  44.         (do not need every one requested)?  Answer yes 
  45.         for an OR search.  Answer no for an AND search 
  46.         (all words are important to select a line).
  47.  
  48.       Return after first match?  The first occurence in 
  49.         the search range is only returned, and no others.
  50.  
  51.       Number of lines search words may span.  The number 
  52.         of consecutive lines the requested words may be 
  53.         contained in.  Note these are lines, not verses.

  56.   When visiting bookmarks (Alt-V), these keys are valid:

  58.     After entering the first bookmark to visit:
  59.       P     - Visit the previous bookmark.
  60.       Alt-R - Remove the current bookmark.
  61.       ESC   - Stop visiting bookmarks.
  62.  
  63.   When in search mode (Alt-S), the Alt-V keys, and also
  64.     this key is valid:
  65.       Alt-N - Add a new bookmark at this spot.

  68. The GEN7 DeskTop features are:
  69.  
  70.         1) Delete, copy and get file statistics with point and
  71.            click mouse operation.
  72.         2) Set the system date and time.
  73.         3) A calendar is available with a memo function to 
  74.            remind of appointments or other dates.
  75.         4) Play music from the Desktop menu selection (F6).
  76.            Music may play continuously in the background 
  77.            from a selection of a thirteen favorite tunes.
  78.            (One dozen with the other products.  The Bible
  79.             Study programs have Hymns, the other products
  80.             have a variety of songs).
  81.         5) An analog clock may be displayed for constant
  82.            time notification.
  83.         6) A Calculator is available for doing simple 
  84.            arithmetic.
  85.         7) An internal editor is provided to allow viewing
  86.            or modifying small text files (up to 12000 bytes).
  87.            An external editor may be invoked from this option,
  88.            if the amount of available system memory allows
  89.            (approx. 171000 bytes are available in the shell).
  90.         8) A method to execute commands within DOS.

  92.         1) A brief synopsis of the internal editor:
  93.              a) PgUp, PgDn scroll up and down one line.
  94.              b) Cntl PgUp, Cntl PgDn scroll up and down one page.
  95.              c) Cntl Y deletes a line.
  96.              d) Cntl J inserts a line.
  97.              e) The arrow keys work as expected.
  98.              f) Home, End, Ins and Del work as expected, but 
  99.                 the Ins inserts one character at the cursor.
  100.              g) Alt-S Search forward, Alt-P Search backward.
  101.              h) Alt-R Replace forward, Alt-P Replace backward.
  102.              g) ESC exits the editor.
  103.           Only files of approximately 11000 characters may be
  104.           editted.  Invoking the editor is a three stage process: 
  105.             a) Click on the file to be editted.
  106.             b) Click again and drag the icon over to the editor icon.
  107.             c) Click again and drag the editor icon cursor into the
  108.                work area.  Questions are asked about the type of editor.
  109.  
  110.         2) The Daily Quote feature cycles through over 450 different
  111.            sayings and jokes composed by one person at Synergistic
  112.            Consultants, Inc..  With the Bible Study version, or when 
  113.            one registers any of the other products, this feature may 
  114.            be configured so only certain categories are cycled through, 
  115.            or it may be disabled totally  (See Desktop F6, Calendar/Music,
  116.            on the GEN7 Main Menu).  Call or write for the availability 
  117.            of other databases to be used for tutorials, etc..
