  6. Accountant Module Version 1.4:
  7.  
  8. Integrated into the Calendar function of the GEN7 DeskTop 
  9. environment is the Accounting module.  This module is designed
  10. to handle up to 4 separate accounts and handles the following
  11. transaction types:
  12.  
  13.         1) Automatic Credit (posts auto deposit checks).
  14.         2) Automatic Debt (posts auto debts).        
  15.         3) Manual Credit for other types of payments and
  16.            deposits.
  17.         4) Manual Debt for personal or business checks.
  18.  
  19. The manual debts and credits allow a check number.  All 
  20. transactions have a memo, recepient and amount fields.
  21. A grace period before and after the transaction may be
  22. specified for the calendar function to begin and stop 
  23. alerting the user of the transaction's specified post 
  24. date.  A music or bell type alarm may be designated to 
  25. accompany the transaction when it is displayed on entry 
  26. to GEN7.  After registration, an option is provided so
  27. the Accountant may be started from an AUTOEXEC file to check 
  28. the accounts in the GEN7.CAL file generated by GEN7, and 
  29. remind the user every time the computer starts.  A selection 
  30. off of the main menu allows account balances to
  31. be updated (Desktop F6, then Calendar/Music, then Reconcile 
  32. Acount).  When a debt or credit is shown, the color of the 
  33. words: Manual or Auto and Credit or Debt indicates the 
  34. active status of the transaction.  A red color indicates 
  35. the transaction has not been posted yet.  A green color 
  36. indicates that the transaction has been posted.  A cyan 
  37. color means that the transaction has been posted, and 
  38. this record is a repeating template for the transaction 
  39. (repeating transactions are stored once, the posted 
  40. transactions are copied at post time).  One memo file 
  41. is generated for each month scanned through in GEN7.  
  42. The file names are made of the month and year 
  43. (GEN7MMYY.CAL).  One repeating transaction file is 
  44. made (GEN7REPT.CAL) that contains all repeating records 
  45. and the account balances.  Take caution in specifying 
  46. grace periods.  Grace periods that overlap from one 
  47. repeating date to another may show transactions as 
  48. posted, that have not been.  Up to 30 transactions are 
  49. allowed per month unless the /cxx option is specified 
  50. at runtime.  The xx is the maximum number of memos to 
  51. allow.  The modify feature can change a non repeating 
  52. transaction into a repeating transaction, if the 
  53. switch Monthly or BiWeekly or Weekly are set before 
  54. modification.  All fields must be modified in this mode,
  55. the speaker beeps until it is so.  Note that to minimize 
  56. the amount of internal bookkeeping, a transaction that was 
  57. not posted within the grace period will show as inactive 
  58. (Black color) out of the grace period (not Pending or Red 
  59. color).  Posted transactions will show always green on the 
  60. day they were due, but if they are repeating transactions, 
  61. the repeating template will show also.  To tell whether an 
  62. old repeatingtransaction has been posted, check to see if 
  63. two transactions show up on the needed post date (one the
  64. repeating template, and one the green posted transaction).
  65. The repeating templates show up as Repeating posted (Cyan 
  66. color), in all months, even though it may not have been 
  67. posted in that month.  This reflects the status of the 
  68. transaction closest to the current date.  An old 
  69. non-repeating transaction will either be inactive (Black 
  70. color) or Posted (Green color).  Please be aware that
  71. any transaction out of the grace period ('x' number of
  72. days before and after the due date), will not alarm
  73. at startup, and the status will be inactive (Black
  74. color).  In other words, a bill you did not post will 
  75. not nag you constantly until posted.

  77. These modules may be integrated into one after registration (one
  78. copy of GEN7 can be used to use either the tutors or the accounting).

  80. The GEN7 DeskTop features are:
  81.  
  82.         1) Delete, copy and get file statistics with point and
  83.            click mouse operation.
  84.         2) Set the system date and time.
  85.         3) A calendar is available with a memo function to 
  86.            remind of appointments or other dates.
  87.         4) Play music from the Desktop menu selection (F6).
  88.            Music may play continuously in the background 
  89.            from a selection of a dozen favorite tunes.
  90.            (One dozen with the other products.  The Bible
  91.             Study programs have thirteen Hymns, the other 
  92.             products have a variety of songs).
  93.         5) An analog clock may be displayed for constant
  94.            time notification.
  95.         6) A Calculator is available for doing simple 
  96.            arithmetic.
  97.         7) An internal editor is provided to allow viewing
  98.            or modifying small text files (up to 12000 bytes).
  99.            An external editor may be invoked from this option,
  100.            if the amount of available system memory allows
  101.            (approx. 171000 bytes are available in the shell).
  102.         8) A method to execute commands within DOS.

  104. Useful Info:
  105.  
  106.         1) A brief synopsis of the internal editor:
  107.              a) PgUp, PgDn scroll up and down one line.
  108.              b) Cntl PgUp, Cntl PgDn scroll up and down one page.
  109.              c) Cntl Y deletes a line.
  110.              d) Cntl J inserts a line.
  111.              e) The arrow keys work as expected.
  112.              f) Home, End, Ins and Del work as expected, but 
  113.                 the Ins inserts one character at the cursor.
  114.              g) Alt-S Search forward, Alt-B Search backward.
  115.              h) Alt-R Replace forward, Alt-P Replace backward.
  116.              i) ESC exits the editor.
  117.           Only files of approximately 11000 characters may be
  118.           editted.  Invoking the editor is a three stage process: 
  119.             a) Click on the file to be editted.
  120.             b) Click again and drag the icon over to the editor icon.
  121.             c) Click again and drag the editor icon cursor into the
  122.                work area.  Questions are asked about the type of editor.

  124.         2) The Daily Quote feature cycles through over 450 different
  125.            sayings and jokes composed by one person at Synergistic
  126.            Consultants, Inc..  With the Bible Study version, or when 
  127.            one registers any of the other products, this feature may 
  128.            be configured so only certain categories are cycled through, 
  129.            or it may be disabled totally  (See Desktop F6, Calendar/Music,
  130.            on the GEN7 Main Menu).  Call or write for the availability 
  131.            of other databases to be used for tutorials, etc..
