  46. Yes the rumors are TRUE. Our ever popular 954-5100 came down with a
  47. resounding crash between 12 and 15 hours ago. The consequences of
  48. this follow, as well as a brief history of the number...

  59. Around 10 months ago, an ingenious local decided to tone-lok the 954
  60. prefix and look for "interesting" return codes. Whammo! He hits the
  61. jackpot in the 954 prefix, as over 150 numbers come back tagged as
  62. "specials". One of the first on the list was 954-5100. So the next
  63. step was to determine what kind of special it was. It turned out
  64. that if a code was supplied (in this case 222 (DUH!!!!))an outside
  65. line was accessed that you could dial thru, with access to WORLDWIDE
  66. phone destinations, without the dialer being billed for the call
  67. (Ie. FREE LD FOLKS!) The code stayed up and the pirates kept calling
  68. and calling and calling, UNTIL NOW...

  84. 5100 has been monitored for the last 9 months in order to build "strong"
  85. cases against abusers of the line. 18 locals have at one time or another
  86. logged into and abused the line, myself included. We abused that line to
  87. the tune of 90 GRAND! As of last night, 2 locals have been busted, and
  88. rumors are flying as to who they are. We don't currently know who was
  89. busted, but the RC's raided 2 places and grabbed equipment etc. 3 locals
  90. have been BACK-BILLED to date, but these seem to be aimed at the heavy
  91. users of the line. If you used it less than 10 times, don't worry about it,
  92. as they are after bigger fish. The line is now dead (DUH!!!!). If you call
  93. it, you wil get a ring ring ring ring ring ring... no answer. So the 954
  94. bonanza has come to an end... OR HAS IT??? :)

  101. Well what can you do about it? Well remember earlier when I said that
  102. 954 was a virtual Bonanza of PBX's? Well pull out your tone-loks and
  103. start dialing! To get you started, Skumlord/GenERiC and Bluewater/INDY
  104. are proud to start you off with a working 954 #! Remember to write this
  105. down... We don't have the code yet, so if you happen to get this fucker
  106. working, be sure to reach either of us on DIGITAL THREAT (526-2813)
  107. and let us know! We think the code is 8 digits...
