  6.     Sloan is clearly filled with genuine emotion and
  7.     there are times in his speech when he has to stop
  8.     and regain his composure.
  9.  
  10.                     SLOAN
  11.             As I stand here, reunited with my
  12.             friends and family for one last
  13.             time... I want you -- the people
  14.             I love -- to know just how sorry
  15.             I am for all the pain I've caused
  16.             you. I dedicated my life to the
  17.             preservation and protection of
  18.             the Federation. This duty, which
  19.             I carried out to the best of my
  20.             ability, took precedence over
  21.             everything else... my parents, my
  22.             wife, my children...
  23.                 (a beat)
  24.             I lived in a world of secrets.
  25.             Of sabotage and deceit. I spent
  26.             so much time erasing my
  27.             movements, covering my tracks...
  28.             and now that I look back at my
  29.             life, I find... nothing. It's as
  30.             if I never really existed. I
  31.             cheated you all out of being in
  32.             my life. And what's more, I
  33.             cheated myself as well.

  35.             I know a simple apology won't
  36.             change that. Still, I feel the
  37.             need to apologize anyway.

  39.     Sloan looks around at the tear-stricken crowd.

  42.             No tears, please. My death isn't
  43.             a tragedy, it's a celebration.
  44.             In death, I can finally step out
  45.             of the shadows and prove to
  46.             myself that I existed. That I
  47.             lived.

  51.     bursts into APPLAUSE. An attractive woman steps out
