  6.     as he continues to play the piano intently. As he 
  7.     strikes the piano keys, the baseball rolls off the 
  8.     piano mantel. Sisko looks down to see where the 
  9.     ball has rolled --

  11. 9A   SISKO'S POV
  12.  
  13.     of the ball on the floor.
  14.  
  15. 9B   ANGLE ON SISKO
  16.  
  17.     as the CAMERA PUSHES IN on Sisko's face.
  18.  
  19.                                     CUT TO:
  20.  
  21. 10   EXT. DESERT - DAY (OPTICAL)
  22.  
  23.     The ball lying in the sand. PULL BACK TO REVEAL
  24.     Sisko, wearing civilian clothes, digging desperately 
  25.     in the sand under a burning, hot sun. His face is 
  26.     haggard, parched; he's close to exhaustion.
  27.  
  28.     At some point, Sisko tosses away the shovel he's 
  29.     been using and starts clawing away at the sand with 
  30.     his bare hands.
  31.  
  32. 11   SISKO'S POV OF THE SAND (OPTICAL)
  33.  
  34.     as his fingers begin to uncover a face covered by a 
  35.     thin shroud. Sisko's hands remove the veil-like 
  36.     cloth to expose a face mask chiseled in stone. 
  37.     Almost immediately, the stone cracks into a thousand 
  38.     pieces which quickly turn into dust. Sisko brushes 
  39.     away the dust with his hand, revealing the face of a 
  40.     beautiful black woman. Her eyes are closed, her 
  41.     expression serene. Suddenly, her eyes pop open.

  43. 12   CLOSE ON SISKO (OPTICAL)
  44.  
  45.     confused and a touch frightened.
  46.  
  47.                     JAKE (O.S.)
  48.             Dad? What is it? What's wrong?
