  10. 1    EXT. FARIUS PRIME - DAY (MATTE SHOT/OPTICAL)

  12.     A gritty, industrial city set against a polluted grey 
  13.     sky. Modern skyscrapers abut older, brick structures
  14.     Despite the contrast in building materials, certain 
  15.     architectural elements peculiar to Farius remain 
  16.     consistent -- the shape of the windows, perhaps. The 
  17.     exception to this is a shantytown that can be seen at 
  18.     the edge of the city.

  20. 2    INT. A TAVERN - DAY (VPB)
  21.  
  22.     Housed in one of the city's older, rundown buildings. 
  23.     It's dark and dingy, with a bartop running along one 
  24.     wall, a few tables and chairs, and a public COM-UNIT on 
  25.     another wall, complete with a MONITOR. Alien graffiti 
  26.     is scrawled near the unit, presumably from patrons 
  27.     jotting down "phone numbers."
  28.  
  29.     The bartender, a taciturn BOLIAN called Graife, is 
  30.     serving a sad-looking YRIDIAN. At one of the tables, 
  31.     a FARIAN man and a HUMAN are playing an alien CARD 
  32.     GAME. The Farian has some sort of TUBE running into 
  33.     one of his nostrils -- as he deals the cards, he takes 
  34.     a whiff of whatever substance the apparatus is feeding 
  35.     him.

  37.     We take in this scene for a moment, then MOVE TO REVEAL 
  38.     an unlikely customer sitting alone at the bar -- MILES 
  39.     O'BRIEN. He is UNSHAVEN and is wearing CIVILIAN CLOTHES 
  40.     suitable for a man used to working with his hands. 
  41.     He's fiddling with a small piece of broken HARDWARE, 
  42.     using non-Starfleet TOOLS from a beaten-up TOOLKIT at 
  43.     his side.
  44.  
  45.     We'll come to learn that O'Brien has been on an 
  46.     undercover mission for several weeks, trying to 
  47.     infiltrate the Orion Syndicate. He's posing as a 
  48.     traveling handyman for hire -- just a guy trying to 
  49.     scrape together enough work to book passage off-world. 
  50.     He's been hanging out at this bar because he's learned 
  51.     that it's a haunt for certain low-ranking Syndicate 
  52.     members.

  54.     Three of them are sitting at a nearby table. LIAM 
  55.     BILBY, a human in his late forties, is the leader of 
  56.     the trio.
