  2.      DEEP SPACE NINE: "Far Beyond... " - REV. 12/10/97 - ACT ONE     21.

  4. 27   EXT. HARLEM STREET - NIGHT
  5.  
  6.     Somewhere around 145th and Lennox, Benny comes out of 
  7.     a subway station and crosses the street on his way to 
  8.     his apartment. It's late at night and there are only 
  9.     a few PEDESTRIANS, all black.
  10.  
  11.     As he approaches the street corner, we see a black street 
  12.     PREACHER (Joseph Sisko), addressing whoever will listen.
  13.  
  14.                     PREACHER 
  15.             "And he said to me, 'These words 
  16.             are trustworthy and true.' And the 
  17.             Lord, the God of the spirits of 
  18.             the prophets, has sent his angel 
  19.             to show his servants what must 
  20.             soon take place."
  21.  
  22.     The Preacher points at Benny as he approaches.
  23.  
  24.                     PREACHER 
  25.             "Then the eyes of the blind shall 
  26.             be opened, and the ears of the 
  27.             deaf shall be unstopped." Praise 
  28.             the Lord, open their eyes. Help 
  29.             them to see.
  30.  
  31.                     BENNY 
  32.             Are you talking to me?
  33.  
  34.                     PREACHER 
  35.             "Oh, that my words were now 
  36.             written! Oh, that they were 
  37.             printed in a book!" Write those 
  38.             words, Brother Benny. Let them 
  39.             see the glory of what lies ahead.
  40.  
  41.                     BENNY
  42.             How do you know my name?
  43.  
  44.                     PREACHER 
  45.             Go now and write the truth that's 
  46.             in your heart. The truth "that 
  47.             shall set them free!"
  48.  
  49.     The Preacher gives Sisko a last hard look, walks 
  50.     away -- preaching to whoever will listen.
  51.  
  52.                     PREACHER 
  53.             Praise be the word of the Lord... 
  54.             Praise to the word of the 
  55.             prophets. Hallelujah, brothers 
  56.             and sisters.
