  1.                              SCREEN DISPLAY MODE

  3.     PC-TYPE+ may be run in any of three modes -
  4.  
  5.         Direct to Screen - (for truly compatible PC's)
  6.                            information to be placed on the screen will be
  7.                            written directly to screen memory.  This is the
  8.                            mode in which PC-TYPE+ was sent to you as a
  9.                            default.

  11.                     Bios - (for less compatible PC's)
  12.                            information to be placed on the screen will be
  13.                            sent through the ROM BIOS for display.
  14.  
  15.                     ANSI - (for not very compatible PC's)
  16.                            information to be placed on the screen will be
  17.                            sent via the ANSI.SYS device driver.

  23.     The only time you would want to change these parameters would be if
  24.     you were going to use PC-TYPE+ on a different machine that did not
  25.     support the way PC-TYPE+ was currently configured.

  27.     Direct to Screen is by far the fastest of the three modes and it is
  28.     HIGHLY recommended that you use this mode if you can.  ANSI mode is by
  29.     far the slowest and is not recommended for performance reasons if you
  30.     can avoid it.  However, if it's all you have, at least you can still
  31.     use PC-TYPE+.

  33.     Note: ANSI.SYS MUST be included in your CONFIG.SYS file when booting
  34.     your system, or the ANSI mode will not be supported.

  43.     You may start up PC-TYPE+ in a different mode by using the /ANSI,
  44.     /DIRECT, or /BIOS parameters described in the HELP file INP_PRMS.
  45.     Once inside PC-TYPE+ in any mode, you may go to the MODIFY DEFAULTS
  46.     panel by pressing F8 and the F2, and move the Option Selection Bar to
  47.     the field labelled "Screen Mode" and then press F10.  When you do
  48.     this, you will see the following three field options:

  50.                  Direct-to-Screen           (IBM PC or truly compatible)
  51.                  Through-ROM-BIOS           (Nearly compatible)
  52.                  Through ANSI.SYS           (Marginally compatible)

  54.     The Option bar will be on your current mode.  Make the appropriate
  55.     selection and press F10 and then save your defaults either to a file
  56.     or to PC-TYPE+ itself.
