  1.                             LINE WIDTH DEFINITION

  3.     PC-TYPE+ will support files up to 240+ columns in width.  If PC-TYPE+
  4.     is configured now the way it was sent to you, the current line length
  5.     would be set to 100.  When you specify a desired line length, PC-TYPE+
  6.     will give you AT LEAST that many characters per line, and may give you
  7.     from 1 to 15 additional characters.  This is a function of how
  8.     PC-TYPE+ chooses to align information in memory and is a normal
  9.     functioning of the program.

  11.     While we stated above that the line length of the copy we sent you was
  12.     set to 100, the actual line length is 111 characters.  This line
  13.     length is not obvious if the margins are restricted to one screen.
  14.     Let's change the margins.  Press F8 twice to enter the TAB mode.  Now
  15.     press the End key to move out to the right margin - back up and change
  16.     the R to a T - press Ctrl Right arrow to go out to column 111 (or
  17.     whatever it is now set to) - type an R and then press the Enter key.

  21.     PC-TYPE+ should now be set up so that you can go past one screen. Move
  22.     the cursor to the "X" at the end of this line and start typing 20    X
  23.     characters.  Notice that each time you get to the border area, the
  24.     screen will shift a few spaces. (three spaces if you left this default
  25.     the way we sent it to you.).

  27.     You may set how far the screen jumps.  If you are in ANSI or BIOS mode
  28.     for screen display, we suggest that you set this width fairly wide
  29.     because it takes so long to refresh the screen.  In Direct to Screen
  30.     mode, however, it may be set fairly small and still operate quickly.

  32.     NOTE: No changes you make to the number of spaces to be skipped when
  33.           the cursor reaches the border, nor the line width will become
  34.           effective during the PC-TYPE+ session in which they are changed.
  35.           You must first make the changes permanent (see HELP file
  36.           DFLTS_SV), exit PC-TYPE+, and then re-enter.

  41.                    CHANGING the LINE WIDTH and SKIP FACTOR

  43.     These options may be changed by:
  44.  
  45.        (1) Entering the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel by pressing F8 and then F2
  46.        (2) Moving the Option Selection Bar to the field entitled
  47.            "Line Attributes" by pressing the TAB key
  48.        (3) Pressing the F10 key to enter the sub-panel
  49.        (4) Modifying the Line Length and/or Horizontal Displacement data
  50.            as desired
  51.        (5) Pressing F10
  52.        (6) Making the changes permanent.

  54.     An alternative method for changing the line length is to use the
  55.     /WIDTH-n parameter when starting PC-TYPE+.  (See the HELP file
  56.     "INP_PRMS" for more details on this parameter.)
