  1.                          CHANGING DEFAULTS (F8 - F2)
  2.  
  3.     Most of the options which you can set in PC-TYPE+ can be modified
  4.     directly from inside the program by using the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel.
  5.     You may get to this panel by pressing F8 and then F2.  These options
  6.     are listed below in this file.

  8.     Most of these defaults become immediately active in the current
  9.     session.  Upon exiting the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel you have the option
  10.     to save all of these defaults either to a file on disk where you can
  11.     recall them in another session, or you may make the changes permanent
  12.     within PC-TYPE+ itself so they will be automatically set every time
  13.     you need to use PC-TYPE+.

  15.     There are a few other defaults which may also be saved but which are
  16.     not necessarily set within the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel.  They will be
  17.     noted below.

  19.                               Press the PgDn Key

  21.                   MOVING AROUND IN THE MODIFY DEFAULTS PANEL

  24.     When you press F8 and then F2, you will see the screen filled with
  25.     numerous subject fields.  To make modifications to specific data,
  26.     press the TAB key to move the field select marker to the desired field
  27.     and then press F10.  By holding down the shift key and pressing the
  28.     TAB key you can move the field select marker in the reverse direction.

  30.     After pressing F10, you will be presented with a new screen which
  31.     deals in detail with the subject you selected.  Make your
  32.     modifications as desired on this panel and return to the MODIFY
  33.     DEFAULTS panel.  You can return to the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel by
  34.     pressing either the Esc key or F10.  Normally, by pressing F10, the
  35.     modifications you have made will become effective and by pressing the
  36.     Esc Key, they will be ignored.

  41.                       EXITING THE MODIFY DEFAULTS PANEL

  43.     After returning to the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel from a detail sub-panel,
  44.     you return to your text by pressing the Esc key.
  45.  
  46.     When you press the Esc key, you will be asked if you want to Save the
  47.     defaults.  If you answer by pressing the 'N' key, you will return
  48.     immediately to the text.  THE MODIFICATIONS YOU MADE WILL BE EFFECTIVE
  49.     during the current editing session EVEN IF YOU PRESS the N key.  You
  50.     DO NOT HAVE TO SAVE your modifications.

  52.     If you press the 'Y' key you will be asked additional questions about
  53.     what and where you want to save.  By pressing the Esc key at any time
  54.     in this question and answer session you will be returned to the text
  55.     currently being edited and the changes made will take effect.  (See
  56.     the HELP file DFLTS_SV)

  61.                          PRINTER UNIQUE DATA DEFAULTS
  62.  
  63.     * TRANSLATION TABLE DATA
  64.     * PRINTER ESCAPE CODES and TEXT MARKER ATTRIBUTES
  65.  
  66.     The Translation Table Data will translate a text character to a
  67.     different character when sent to the printer.  (See the HELP file
  68.     CHR_XLTN).

  70.     The Printer Escape Codes may be defined here and the Text Marker
  71.     colors described.  (See ESC_CODE and BOLD_ETC).

  73.     These two sets of data comprise the Printer subset of the total list
  74.     of defaults and may be saved separately if desired.  This permits you
  75.     to keep a special Printer default file which can be easily read into
  76.     PC-TYPE+.  This facilitates moving from one printer to another without
  77.     having to reset all the printer unique functions over and over.

  90.     The defaults listed above may be changed but will not be activated in
  91.     the current PC-TYPE+ session.  They may be made permanent in PC-TYPE+
  92.     and then they will be active the next time PC-TYPE+ is called upon.

  94.     They may also be saved to disk in which case they will become active
  95.     if the file to which they were saved is referenced as a parameter when
  96.     starting a new PC-TYPE+ session.  They will not be active if the file
  97.     is read during a session which has already begun.

  121.                            ADDITIONAL DEFAULTS INFORMATION

  123.     The list of defaults below which may be modified through the MODIFY
  124.     DEFAULTS panel may also be modified directly.  If you save the
  125.     defaults to disk, or make a permanent change, any modifications to
  126.     this set of defaults will be saved without going to the MODIFY
  127.     DEFAULTS panel.

  134.     When you import data from PC-FILE, in addition to the Path and
  135.     Database name, you may also define which fields of data you want
  136.     imported.  This list is also saved if you save defaults AFTER defining
  137.     the fields.

  143.     Up to 10 Keystroke Macros may be made permanent or saved to disk.
  144.     These Macros are not defined in the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel.  (See

  147.     When you make defaults permanent within PC-TYPE+, the Path
  148.     specification to PC-TYPE+ and the name for PC-TYPE+ which you are
  149.     using (should you change it) are saved as defaults.
