- DELETING
-
- There are a number of ways to delete information inside a PC-TYPE+
- file.
-
- Deleting a Line (F5)
-
- The most common form of deletion is by pressing F5 which will delete
- the text line on which the cursor is currently positioned. If the
- cursor is on the Command Line it will erase the entire Command Line
- contents.
-
- Move the cursor to the asterisk below and press F5.
- (*) This line will be deleted.
-
- As you can see, the line is gone. (Now press Ctrl W, the "Whoops"
- key, to get the line back.)
-
- Press the PgDn Key
-
-
-
-
-
- Deleting a paragraph with AltD
-
- Move the cursor to the M at the beginning of this line and press AltL.
- Now move the cursor to the line below this line and press AltL again.
- Now Press AltD.
-
- These lines can be recovered by pressing CtrlW (the "Whoops" key),
- three times. Try it. However, no more than 10 lines may be recovered
- with the "Whoops" key.
-
-
-
-
-
- Press the PgDn Key
-
-
- Deleting a Sentence with AltD
-
- Move the cursor to the asterisk (*) and press CtrlL.
- Now move the cursor to the plus sign on the line below and press CtrlL
- again. (+) Now press AltD.
-
- As you can see, the "sentence" is removed from the text, but the space
- at the end of the first line and at the beginning of the last line
- remains. You may close these gaps in the paragraph quickly by
- pressing CtrlR with the cursor somewhere inside the paragraph.
-
- Again, these lines can be recovered by pressing CtrlW (the "Whoops"
- key), three times. Try it. However, no more than 10 lines may be
- recovered with the "Whoops" key.
-
-
-
- Press the PgDn Key
-
-
- Deleting a Blocked Area with AltD
-
- This form of deletion is very handy. For example, move the cursor to
- each of the two asterisks on the line below and press CtrlB.
- Delete (*) part of this (*) line.
- Now press AltD. As you can see the unwanted area was removed and the
- gap closed. (Press CtrlW to get the line back.)
-
- Now move the cursor to each of the asterisks below and press CtrlB
- when the cursor is on each asterisk.
-
- aaaaaaaaa *bbbbbbbbb ccccccccc ddddddd Then press AltD. Here the
- aaaaaaaaa bbbbbbbbbb ccccccccc ddddddd entire block is removed and
- aaaaaaaaa bbbbbbbbbb ccccccccc ddddddd the lines are shifted left.
- aaaaaaaaa bbbbbbbbb* ccccccccc ddddddd (CtrlW will get back 10 lines)
-
-
- Press the PgDn Key
-
- Other Deletion Techniques
-
- AltE is actually a graphics character Erase function, but in text
- material, it will perform an immediate erasure of part of a line
- without closing the hole.
-
- Move the cursor to each asterisk below and press AltE when the cursor
- is on top of each asterisk. CtrlW will get the line back.
-
- AltE will also remove a column of data in a similar fashion. Try * !
- AltE on the Top and Bottom asterisk on the column of asterisks to * !
- the right. * !
-
- Finally, you may blank (*)out a block of information with two AltF's
- at the upper left and lower right corners of a block if the fill
- character is the default space character. Try this by pressing AltF
- on both the asterisks in this paragraph(*). (CtrlW returns 10 lines.)
