  1.                                     ADDING

  3.     To  ADD a group of numbers you must first mark >     $1,111.11
  4.     the  area to be summed.   Only one number  per         <555.55>
  5.     line should appear in the marked area.  In the        3,333.33
  6.     example to the right,  place the cursor to the         <666.66>
  7.     right  of the '>'  character and press  CtrlB.         <444.44>
  8.     Place  the cursor to the left of the '<'   and        2,222.22
  9.     press  CtrlB again.   The area to be summed is        7,777.77
  10.     now  marked.   Now hold down the Ctrl key  and        8,888.88       <
  11.     press 'A'.   Note that the answer is placed in
  12.     an  inserted line below the last number to  be
  13.     summed.

  15.     It is not necessary for the numbers to be aligned.  For example, you
  16.     could have positive numbers to the left and negative numbers to the
  17.     right.
  18.                               Press the PgDn Key

  20.     You may use the minus sign if you prefer to indicate negative numbers.

  22.     If the default monetary symbol is found in any number, it will appear
  23.     in the answer.  If the default thousands separator is found in any
  24.     number and the result is greater than 999, it will be used in the
  25.     answer.  If it is not encountered in any number, it will not be used
  26.     in the answer.  Similarly, the default symbol used to separate the
  27.     whole number from the fractional part will not appear in the result
  28.     if it was not encountered in any of the numbers defined in the sum.

  30.     Mark  the  block to the right as you  did >     111.111
  31.     above  with  CtrlB's.    If  you  do  not       222.222
  32.     remember  Ctrl  A is for adding  numbers,                  -333.333
  33.     Press  F7  for  Blocked  area  functions.       444.444
  34.     From this menu you can either press F8 or                  -555.555  <
  35.     Ctrl A to perform the sum.

  39.     CHANGING THE DEFAULT SUM CHARACTERS

  41.     (Read the following BEFORE trying it.)

  43.    By pressing F8, the Miscellaneous key, you will see that defaults can
  44.    be modified by pressing F2.  When you do this you will be presented
  45.    with a menu of defaults which may be changed.  To EXIT from this menu
  46.    of defaults, all you have to do is press the Esc key.

  48.     Now press F8, then F2, look at the Menu and then press the Esc key.

  50.     Toward the bottom of the menu, the field "Default Sum Characters"
  51.     is visible.  This time when you go to the menu, Tab (or Shift Tab) to
  52.     this field and press F10.  (NOTE: you should answer NO to the question
  53.     "Save Modifications" when you escape from the menu panel this time.)

  55.     After pressing F10, AltG will let you select new default characters.
