Just as with windows, even the most energy efficient door can be rendered ineffective as a result of poor installation. Heat may be lost through the door and frame, between the door, frame and sill, and between the door frame and rough opening.
Just as with windows, installation must be exact and complete. It must be square, level and plumb. The door must fit tightly in the frame. The opening between the frame and the rough opening must be fully insulated and sealed with caulking on both the interior and exterior sides. Strike plates must line up with the latch assembly.
