Multiciv is a hacked version of Civilization that provides some
modicum of multi-player capability. I am not the original author of
multiciv, I don't know who is. This just appeared on some bulletin
board somewhere and there is no documentation for it. It is NOT from
MicroProse nor do they support it. I have cleaned it up somewhat. If
you download it, you are own your own. This is just the exe file, you
need to have Civilization & the Civ manual to play this version.
I have figured out a few things about how it works. It starts up just
like regular Civilization and you select which civ you will lead (only
one civ). There will be at least 3 computer controlled civs so in
order to get into multiplayer mode you need to start with at least 5
civs. I have found thru experimentation that when in multiplayer you
should select either the Americans or Egyptians at startup otherwise
the screen can sometimes get funky on you. It can get a little
difficult in the beginning figuring out whose turn it is until every
civ has at least one active unit. There are also a few minor bugs
involving barbarians and a few of your units (and the barbarians) can
occasionally disappear - fog of war I guess <g>.
That's about the best I've figured out on this thing - good luck
and good gaming.
