Who should file?
a) Anyone who is an operator of an on-line service that is in active
operation on September 1, 1992.
b) If you are running a system that is schedule to begin operation
after this date please do not file. If your system has ceased
operations for any reason but will return to operation before
September 15, you may file.
c) BBS Census '92 is only open to on-line systems in the United
States and Canada.
Why should I file?
The use of electronic communications is growing at an outstanding
rate, and it is important that we know just how widespread it has
become. You can become one of the counted by filing, and in this way
add your voice (and numbers) to the statistical data that will be
generated by this Census.
Do hobby boards constitute the majority of On-Line services? Are
they dependable? What is their lifespan? How many product support BBS's
are there? How many people use Compuserve on a daily or yearly basis.
These, and other questions will determine the tenor of BBS Census '92.

ModemNews Magazine (the sponsor) also has no plans to produce a
BBS list from the results. BBS lists are currently being produced by
many other entities. Our prime goal is information on background.
