  9. ThePCjr  provides  for full contrast/brightness on all types            
  10. of monitors  when  it  is running with DOS 2.1 but, when the            
  11. machine goes  into  BASIC  either directly or via a program,            
  12. the  screen  intensity  drops to approximately half.  On the            
  13. display,  full gain on contrast and brightness controls does            
  14. not allow  you  to regain a normal brightness.  This is true            
  15. in Cassette or cartridge BASIC.  The intensity is  purposely            
  16. dimmed so  that  it  does  not overdrive an RGB or composite            
  17. monitor.  To  get  full  brightness on the display enter the            
  18. following BASIC statement:
