What is BatchZIP ?
Do you do a lot of uploading onto BBS's? Have you ever sat there
for hours zipping thousands of little files individually? If you have,
this utility may save you hours. The only purpose of BatchZIP is to
save you time. And if you have ever wanted to make tons of ZIP files
that contain just one file, than BatchZIP is the utility for you.
As of this moment, BatchZIP was written to make up to 1000 ZIP files
that contain only one file. So, for example, if you have a directory
filled with say 500 midi sequences, you can zip them individually in
just a few moments. Actually, it's not 1000 files, it's more like
989 files at once.
How to install BatchZIP ?
To install BatchZIP follow these steps:
I. A. Copy BatchZIP.EXE into any directory that is part of your computer
systems path so we can find the damn file when we want it!
B. Make sure PKWare's PKZIP.EXE is also in a directory that can be found
by your path.
C. This should do it. You are ready to go!
II. To use BatchZIP ?
A. First of all throw all of the files that you want to individually
ZIP into a directory. Obviously, if you DON'T want a file ZIPPED
keep it out of this directory.
B. Make sure your prompt is in the directory of files to ZIP.
C. Now we are really ready, type this is at the prompt as you see it
here, "DIR >FILES.TXT" make sure you type this is exactly as I have
it EXCLUDING the double quotes.
What we are doing here is making a list of all files in your directory
that BatchZIP will read in. Make sure that you DO NOT edit this list
to take out any lines. Leave it as is. BatchZIP takes in account the
8 lines at top of file and 2 lines at bottom of file that we don't need.
If you change it all files may not be ZIPPED.
D. Now we are even more ready! Now all you have to do is type in
"BATCHZIP" at the prompt (excluding the double quotes) and away we go.
ZIP ZIP ZIP ZIP ZIP ZIP ZIP.......isn't it pretty!
