  2.                      R E A D I N G     M E S S A G E S

  4. This command allows you to select which messages you want to read.  Reading
  5. can be done using a number of command-line options.
  6.  
  7. The READ sub-prompt appears as follows:
  8.  
  9.    Starting from [1-2520], [H]elp, [N]ew mail, [S]earch, [U]nread personal,
  10.    or [ENTER] to quit?
  11.  
  12. Each option is explained below:
  13.  
  14. [1..2520]  - Allows you to enter a beginning message number from the message
  15.              range available.  Entering a number begins reading at that
  16.              message and continues in a direction specified by the
  17.              [D]irection selection.
  18.  
  19. [N]ew mail - Selecting this option displays the following sub-prompt:
  20.  
  21.    Read mail in [C]urrent, [A]ll, or [S]elected conference(s)? [S]
  22.  
  23.        [C]urrent  - Displays all previously unread messages in the currently
  24.                     joined conference.
  25.  
  26.        [A]ll      - Displays all previously unread messages in all of the
  27.                     conferences available based upon your security level.
  28.  
  29.        [S]elected - Similar to [A]ll option except this will display all
  30.                     unread messages based upon conferences selected by the
  31.                     [U]pdate Conferences Scan/Read function found on the
  32.                     Message Menu.

  34. [S]earch   - Selecting this option displays the following sub-prompt:

  36.      [F]rom       : <ALL>
  37.      [T]o         : <ALL>
  38.      S[u]bject    : <ALL>
  39.      Msg [B]ody   : <ALL>
  40.      [N]umber     : <ALL>
  41.      [D]irection  : Forward
  42.      [C]onference : Selected

  44.      Search command [F T U N D B C], [H]elp, [S]tart, [ENTER] to Quit? [ ]

  47.      [F]rom       - Select a username addressed [F]rom:

  49.      [T]o         - Select a username addressed [T]o:

  51.      S[u]bject    - Searches on a specific Subject line string.
  52.  
  53.      Msg [B]ody   - Select keywords in the message body to search for.
  54.                     Example: entering '386' will cause a search for all
  55.                     occurances of that string in all messages based upon
  56.                     overall search criteria.
  57.  
  58.      [N]umber     - Selects the starting message number to begin the search.
  59.  
  60.      [D]irection  - This is a toggle between forward and backward search
  61.                     direction.  Forward is searching by incrementing the
  62.                     message count by one, and backward just the opposite.

  64.      [C]onference - Selecting this option displays the following sub-prompt:

  66.              Scan [C]urrent, [S]elected, [A]ll conference(s)? [ ]
  67.  
  68.           [C]urrent  - Displays all previously unread messages in the currently
  69.                        selected conference.

  71.           [A]ll      - Displays all previously unread messages in all of the
  72.                        conferences available based upon your security level.

  74.           [S]elected - Similar to [A]ll option except this will display all
  75.                        unread messages based upon conferences selected by the
  76.                        [U]pdate Conferences Scan/Read function found on the
  77.                        Message Menu.

  80. [U]nread personal - Reads all messages that are addressed TO you, and have
  81.              not been read previously.  This command would be used to read
  82.              only mail addressed to you that is new, and is often used to
  83.              read personal mail at every logon.

  85. [H]elp     - Displays this Help screen.
  86.
