FractalWeave 2.0, Copyright 1990, 1991 by James H. Price
All Rights Reserved
FractalWeave version 2.0 sports some significant enhancements and
additions to the features contained in version 1.1. Major improvements
include:
-- The graphics routines in version 2.0 are coded entirely in
assembly language, resulting in a smaller and faster program.
-- On-line help has been enhanced. Help is available for each menu
item by pressing F1. General help for each screen is available by
pressing 'H'.
-- FractalWeave 2.0 has the capability to save full screen images in
standard PCX format. The resulting files can be viewed from within
FractalWeave, or with any file viewer that supports PCX format.
They can also be edited using "paint" programs that support PCX
format, such as the PaintBrush program in MS Windows 3.0.
-- Loading a PCX file automatically loads the palette and fractal
ball information current at the time the image was saved. If you
press 'W' to start the display, then 'S' to suspend color changes,
the PCX image will be exactly recreated.
-- The height and width of the fractal ball can now be set
independently, giving more control over the FractalWeave image.
Alternatively, the width of the ball can be specified, and the
height set automatically by pressing 'S' (for "scale"). This
creates a circular ball regardless of the display mode.
-- The speed of the fractal ball can be varied during the display by
pressing 'D' (for de-accelerate), or 'A' (for accelerate).
-- The ricochet sound can be turned on and off during the display,
rather than from the parameter screen.
-- A "pick list" giving full access to all drives and directories
has been added to make it easier to load and save *.WVE and *.PCX
files.
-- The *.WVE files generated by version 2.0 are fully compatible
with the new "FractalSave" screen saver program.
NOTE: This required a significant change in *.WVE file format
between FractalWeave 2.0 and earlier versions. The *.WVE files
created by earlier versions of FractalWeave are not compatible
with version 2.0.
