  3.                       Modify Your CONFIG.SYS
  4.  
  5. CONFIG.SYS is of the files that each computer reads when the
  6. computer is turned ON.
  7.  
  8. Adding more buffers to The BUFFERS = XX in your hard disk
  9. CONFIG.SYS will increase the hard disk operations.  Buffers hold
  10. information read from or written to the hard disk.  DOS checks the
  11. buffer's content each time information is requested from the hard
  12. disk. Each buffer represents 512 Bytes.  A maximum of 99 buffers
  13. can be used.

  15. Many application software especially data base programs
  16. require that you have at least BUFFERS=20 or 40 in CONFIG.SYS
  17. otherwise the program will not run.

  19. If you do not have CONFIG.SYS on the main directory of your hard
  20. disk, you can create it using EDLIN (DOS Command) or any word
  21. processing program.

  24. DOS manual or the tutorial disks mentioned in the previous
  25. section.
