  3.                       Modify Your CONFIG.SYS
  4.  
  5. Adding  more buffers to The BUFFERS = XX in your hard disk
  6. CONFIG.SYS will increase the hard disk operations. Buffers hold
  7. information read from or written to the hard disk. DOS checks the
  8. buffer's content each time information is requested from the hard
  9. disk. Each buffer represents 512 Bytes. A maximum of 99 buffers
  10. can be used.

  12. Many application software especially data base programs
  13. require that you have at least BUFFERS=20 or 40 in CONFIG.SYS
  14. otherwise the program will not run.

  16. If you do not have CONFIG.SYS on the main directory of your hard
  17. disk, you can create it using EDLIN (DOS Command) or any word
  18. processing program.

  20. For information on modifying the CONFIG.SYS, refer to your
  21. DOS manual or some of the tutorial disks mentioned in the previous
  22. section.
