  16. This diskette contains a "print image" document called 
  17. "MANUAL.LST."  This is the user manual for the "Write-
  18. Perspective."  It can be printed by using the DOS Print 
  19. command on any printer.  Note that the manual consists of 
  20. many module segments, and therefore, cannot be edited as a 
  21. whole (Please refer to the "CD:" Continue Document command.)

  29. When using ANSI mode on a DOS computer, you must first make 
  30. sure that your "CONFIG.SYS" file (if any) contains the line 
  31. "device=ansi.sys."  If it does not, you must edit it and add 
  32. the line to it.  If you don't, and you try to use ANSI mode, 
  33. your screen will be garbled.

  38. When using page ranges, the page numbers represent the 
  39. physical page produced at print time, ÇnÇoÇt the logical page 
  40. number, which can be reset at any time.  For example, the 
  41. fourth page printed would be page 4, but might be numbered 
  42. page 3, etc.

  46.                 ANSI FUNCTION KEY ASSIGNMENT
  47.  
  48. Since some database and other programs call the Write-
  49. Perspective directly while remaining resident, there exists a 
  50. possibility that the function keys can be mapped to return 
  51. different codes than normal.  A new feature is available to 
  52. allow the specification of an ANSI file that will be 
  53. activated when the Write-Perspective exits back to the 
  54. calling program, thereby restoring any ANSI definitions.  
  55. Note that the Write-Perspective resets ans ANSI function key 
  56. assignments when it is executed.  The command used to specify 
  57. the ANSI file is: -AFILE, where file = the filename of the 
  58. ANSI file.

  60.                    EXTENDED DISPLAY MODE
  61.  
  62. It is now possible to look beyond the cursor line to the 
  63. following three lines of text (if any).  This feature is 
  64. called the extended display mode.
  65.  
  66. It can be automatically selected from the document parameter 
  67. file, or can be toggled within the editor using the Alt/F9 
  68. keys.
  69.  
  70. This mode is valid except when using character attributes.  
  71. When character attributes are used, the bottom status lines 
  72. are necessary, so extended display mode will automatically be 
  73. toggled off when selection attributes.  Simply toggle it back 
  74. on via Alt/F9.

  76.                   NEW FUNCTION KEYS
  77.  
  78. Some new functions keys have been added:
  79.  
  80. 1. Home - Will move the cursor to the begining of the line.
  81. 2. Ctrl/Home - Will move the cursor to the begining of the 
  82. document.
  83. 3. Ctrl/End  - Will move the cursor to the end of the 
  84. document (ESC will abort).
  85. 4. Alt/F9 - Will toggle extended display mode.

  88.                SPELLING CHECKER & DICTIONARY
  89.  
  90. The new spelling checking program is now available as a 
  91. sperate product.  If used, it can be automatically called 
  92. from the "write-perspective" by keying Shift/F2.  If you mark 
  93. correction to any words, simply key enter to the request for 
  94. output document, and the "write-perspective" will read the 
  95. corrected marked document and show the marked words.

  97. The spelling cheker program ("EMSPELL.EXE") is provided with 
  98. a utility program ("EMSUTIL.EXE") which allows many 
  99. functions, such as the ability to create a text file from a 
  100. dictionary, or make a dictionary from a text file, etc.  A 
  101. main dictionary is provided with the product.  The speller is 
  102. not limited for use with the "write-perspective", and can be 
  103. used on any text/document file.
  104.  
  105. This version of the "Write-Perspective" is an MS/IBM DOS 
  106. version only.  That is, versions for DRI's Concurrent, and 
  107. HAAR's MUC-DOS must be purchased from HAAR Industries, 
  108. Washington, D.C. directly.

  110. When exiting to the command processor, previous releases 
  111. looked in the current or root directory for the command 
  112. processor.  This version nows cheks for the environmental 
  113. variable "COMSPEC", and if found, it is utilized.  Note that 
  114. the command line switch -c will overide the "COMSPEC" 
  115. setting.
  116.

  118. on slow ANSI terminals to see the text just above the cursor 
  119. line.  The '-l' command line switch reverses the display.
