To Shareware disk vendors:
BROTHER'S KEEPER version 5.0
REQUIRES 512K (640K recommended)
REQUIRES hard disk
Here is a brief description of the program:
BROTHER'S KEEPER is an easy to use, full featured genealogy program which
records names, dates, and other information and prints descendant charts with
relationships, ancestor charts, group sheets, tree charts, alphabetical lists,
birthday lists, and customized reports. You can locate people in the file by
typing their name, instead of having to remember a computer assigned number.
It will handle up to 1 million names (with a hard disk). The program requires
a computer with at least 512K of RAM (640K is recommended). It is strongly
recommended that a hard disk be used to store the data files since the program
runs extremely slowly if the data is on a floppy disk. The program supports
common printers or can be customized for any other printers.
The program includes GEDCOM which allows the transfer of data between
Brother's Keeper and some other genealogy programs. Also includes reports to
print box charts and a printed book with an alphabetical index.
If you need to add your own files to the BK disks, PLEASE BE SURE THAT YOU
LEAVE AT LEAST 2,048 BYTES FREE ON EACH DISK, AND DO NOT DISTRIBUTE DISKS
WHICH HAVE ANY FILE NAMES ENDING WITH .DT5. The options file BKOPTION.DT5 is
created when the program is started the first time and it should NOT be on the
disks that you distribute.
