  14. INSTALLATION

  16. a. Installing on Hard Drives Compressed by Compression Software    
  17.  
  18.     If your hard drive uses compression software such as Stacker
  19.     by Stac, DoubleSpace included with MS-DOS 6.0 through 6.21 or
  20.     DriveSpace included with MS-DOS 6.22, your system ESTIMATES
  21.     available disk space using compression ratio algorithms, and
  22.     assumes that most files will be compressable by 1.8 times 
  23.     (nearly 1/2 original file size).

  25.     ReferenZing's database is a highly compressed file, and may 
  26.     prevent you from installing ReferenZing 1.0 on a compressed 
  27.     hard disk which reports adequate disk space.  For example, 
  28.     ReferenZing will occupy approximately 13.8 Mb (or 13,800 Kb) 
  29.     on your hard drive for a full installation on an uncompressed 
  30.     hard drive.  The same installation on a compressed hard drive 
  31.     may require 25 Mb of reported free space to complete instal-
  32.     lation (13.8 Mb x 1.8 = 24.8 Mb).  You may need more hard 
  33.     disk space to complete installation if your compression ratio 
  34.     is higher than 1.8.

  36.     If you receive errors such as "Unable to Write (filename)",
  37.     or "Unable to Join File", temporarily remove other programs or
  38.     files until you have approximately 25 Mb (or more) of available 
  39.     disk space and re-run the installation.

  42. b. Adding ReferenZing to your word processor

  44.     We have included several macros for use with the most popular
  45.     word processors. Consult ReferenZing Help for information about 
  46.     installing these macros.  Be sure to follow the instructions 
  47.     to ensure a successful installation.

  54.     call Great Bear Technology's Technical Support staff from 8AM to
  55.     5PM PST Monday through Friday (telephone or fax numbers are 
  56.     supplied with registration material).  Leave a message on even-
  57.     ings or weekends, and a technical support representative will 
  58.     return your call within 24 hours or on the next business day.

  60.     information ready before you call.
