If You Have Problems INSTALLATION a. Installing on Hard Drives Compressed by Compression Software If your hard drive uses compression software such as Stacker by Stac, DoubleSpace included with MS-DOS 6.0 through 6.21 or DriveSpace included with MS-DOS 6.22, your system ESTIMATES available disk space using compression ratio algorithms, and assumes that most files will be compressable by 1.8 times (nearly 1/2 original file size). ReferenZing's database is a highly compressed file, and may prevent you from installing ReferenZing 1.0 on a compressed hard disk which reports adequate disk space. For example, ReferenZing will occupy approximately 13.8 Mb (or 13,800 Kb) on your hard drive for a full installation on an uncompressed hard drive. The same installation on a compressed hard drive may require 25 Mb of reported free space to complete instal- lation (13.8 Mb x 1.8 = 24.8 Mb). You may need more hard disk space to complete installation if your compression ratio is higher than 1.8. If you receive errors such as "Unable to Write (filename)", or "Unable to Join File", temporarily remove other programs or files until you have approximately 25 Mb (or more) of available disk space and re-run the installation. b. Adding ReferenZing to your word processor We have included several macros for use with the most popular word processors. Consult ReferenZing Help for information about installing these macros. Be sure to follow the instructions to ensure a successful installation.
