- QUESTION : We've used Macsetup to establish a printq for a
- Laserwriter under AppleTalk. Everything looks good under Macsetup, but under
- Pconsole it says there is no server attached to that queue. The ApplePrinter
- command says there are no printers connected and the ApplePrinter <name>
- start command says "illegal name or maximum number of printers installed."
- What are we doing wrong?
-
- ANSWER : The only thing that you really need to watch for is
- getting the printer name correct in Macsetup. Check the Qlist and Plist
- Console commands for info on the Mac printers and queues. Also make sure to
- cover all options in the Install/Configure print services portion of Macsetup.
- Pconsole should only be used to view the jobs in MAC queues, all other
- functions should be handled by Macsetup.
-
- Things to watch for....jobs going to queue but not being printed, printer
- <xxxxx> running off-line. If either or both of these occur, check in this
- order: printer name must match EXACTLY, check for bad cables and connections,
- bad NL1000 card. Other than that, there is not a lot of things that can go
- wrong.
