  5.   This Readme File contains the information for users to use Acer 5220A
  6. 16-bits Ethernet card on NetWare 286 V2.1X product series. It contains
  7. the following files:

  20. 2. NetWare Setup Steps

  22.    a. Configuring the LAN Adapter
  23.  
  24.       Follow the steps and, if necessary, refer to Acer 5220A
  25.       Ethernet Card User's Manual Chapter 3 for easy installation.
  26.  
  27.       1. Verify the SW1 setting for I/O and memory base address
  28.          configuration.
  29.       2. If the memory space is used, set jumper group 1 (JP10 and JP28)
  30.          to the proper configuration.
  31.       3. Set the jumper plug to the proper jumper position on the
  32.          interrupt channel configuration block JP17 - JP27
  33.       4. Check the network interface used in the network system If thick
  34.          Ethernet is used, close all group 2 jumpers JP2 - JP9 in "E" position.
  35.          If thin Ethernet is used, close all group 2 jumpers in "C" position.

  37.    b. Installing the driver files for the card
  38.  
  39.       1. Copy the 5220ASH.LAN file to the SHGEN-1 diskette for "floppy
  40.          disk" method or to the SHGEN-1 sub-directory if you are using
  41.          "harddisk" or "network" method. It is a Shell driver description
  42.          file.
  43.       2. Copy the Operating System driver description file 5220AOS.LAN to
  44.          the AUXGEN diskette for "floppy disk" method or to the AUXGEN
  45.          sub-directory if you are using "harddisk" or "network" method.
  46.          But if you are generating an External Bridge, the 5220AOS.LAN file
  47.          should be copied to the BRGEN-1 diskette or the BRGEN-1
  48.          sub-directory.
  49.       3. For the "floppy disk" method a blank disk needs to be formated
  50.          and labeled.  Use the DOS LABEL command to label the diskette
  51.          as LAN_DRV_889.  If the "harddisk" or "network" method is being
  52.          used the a subdirectory under the NETWARE directory must be
  53.          created.  Use the DOS MKDIR command to create the LAN_DRV_.889
  54.          subdirectory.  Copy the *.OBJ files to either the labeled diskette
  55.          or subdirectory depending on which method is being used.
  56.       4. Run NETGEN and select the correct driver from the list of LAN adapter 
  57.          options to generate the file server operating system.
  58.       5. Run SHGEN and select the correct driver from the list of LAN adapter
  59.          options to generate the workstation shell.
  60.       6. Run BRGEN and select the correct driver from the list of LAN adapter
  61.          options to generate the external bridge software.
