- 2. NetWare Setup Steps
-
- a. Configuring the LAN Adapter
-
- Follow the steps and, if necessary, refer to Acer 5220
- Ethernet Card User's Manual Chapter 4 for easy installation.
-
- 1. Verify the SW1 setting for I/O and memory base address
- configuration. If the memory is not used, set SW1-1 and SW1-2 to ON.
- 2. If the memory space is used, set jumper group 2 (J08 - J09)
- to the proper configuration.
- 3. Set the jumper plug to the proper jumper position on the
- interrupt channel configuration block J10 - J15.
- 4. Check the network interface used in the network system If thick
- Ethernet is used, close all group 1 jumpers J00 - J07 in THICK
- position. If thin Ethernet is used, close all group 1 jumpers in
- THIN position.
- 5. Set J22 jumper to the proper position for selecting Advanced mode
- or NE-1000 compatible mode.
-
- b. Installing the driver files for the card
-
- 1. Copy the 5220SH.LAN file to the SHGEN-1 diskette for "floppy
- disk" method or to the SHGEN-1 sub-directory if you are using
- "harddisk" or "network" method. It is a Shell driver description
- file.
- 2. Copy the Operating System driver description file 5220OS.LAN to
- the AUXGEN diskette for "floppy disk" method or to the AUXGEN
- sub-directory if you are using "harddisk" or "network" method.
- But if you are generating an External Bridge, the 5220OS.LAN file
- should be copied to the BRGEN-1 diskette or the BRGEN-1
- sub-directory.
- 3. For the "floppy disk" method a blank disk needs to be formattted
- and labeled. Use the DOS LABEL command to label the diskette
- as LAN_DRV_889. If the "harddisk" or "network" method is being
- used then a subdirectory under the NETWARE directory must be
- created. Use the DOS MKDIR command to create the LAN_DRV_.889
- subdirectory. Copy the *.OBJ files to either the labeled diskette
- or subdirectory depending on which method is being used.
- 4. Run NETGEN and select the correct driver from the list of LAN adapter
- options to generate the file server operating system.
- 5. Run SHGEN and select the correct driver from the list of LAN adapter
- options to generate the workstation shell.
- 6. Run BRGEN and select the correct driver from the list of LAN adapter
- options to generate the external bridge software.
-
