  5.   This Readme File contains the information for users to use Acer 5220
  6. 8-bits Ethernet card on NetWare 286 V2.1X product series.  It contains
  7. the following files:

  19. 2. NetWare Setup Steps
  20.  
  21.    a. Configuring the LAN Adapter
  22.  
  23.       Follow the steps and, if necessary, refer to Acer 5220
  24.       Ethernet Card User's Manual Chapter 4 for easy installation.
  25.  
  26.       1. Verify the SW1 setting for I/O and memory base address
  27.          configuration.If the memory is not used, set SW1-1 and SW1-2 to ON.
  28.       2. If the memory space is used, set jumper group 2 (J08 - J09)
  29.          to the proper configuration.
  30.       3. Set the jumper plug to the proper jumper position on the
  31.          interrupt channel configuration block J10 - J15.
  32.       4. Check the network interface used in the network system If thick
  33.          Ethernet is used, close all group 1 jumpers J00 - J07 in THICK
  34.          position. If thin Ethernet is used, close all group 1 jumpers in
  35.          THIN position.
  36.       5. Set J22 jumper to the proper position for selecting Advanced mode
  37.          or NE-1000 compatible mode.

  39.    b. Installing the driver files for the card
  40.  
  41.       1. Copy the 5220SH.LAN file to the SHGEN-1 diskette for "floppy
  42.          disk" method or to the SHGEN-1 sub-directory if you are using
  43.          "harddisk" or "network" method. It is a Shell driver description
  44.          file.
  45.       2. Copy the Operating System driver description file 5220OS.LAN to
  46.          the AUXGEN diskette for "floppy disk" method or to the AUXGEN
  47.          sub-directory if you are using "harddisk" or "network" method.
  48.          But if you are generating an External Bridge, the 5220OS.LAN file
  49.          should be copied to the BRGEN-1 diskette or the BRGEN-1
  50.          sub-directory.
  51.       3. For the "floppy disk" method a blank disk needs to be formattted
  52.          and labeled.  Use the DOS LABEL command to label the diskette
  53.          as LAN_DRV_889.  If the "harddisk" or "network" method is being
  54.          used then a subdirectory under the NETWARE directory must be
  55.          created.  Use the DOS MKDIR command to create the LAN_DRV_.889
  56.          subdirectory.  Copy the *.OBJ files to either the labeled diskette
  57.          or subdirectory depending on which method is being used.
  58.       4. Run NETGEN and select the correct driver from the list of LAN adapter 
  59.          options to generate the file server operating system.
  60.       5. Run SHGEN and select the correct driver from the list of LAN adapter
  61.          options to generate the workstation shell.
  62.       6. Run BRGEN and select the correct driver from the list of LAN adapter
  63.          options to generate the external bridge software.
