Command & Conquer: Red Alert Strategy Guide

Command & Conquer: Red Alert Review
Red Alert Unit Guide
Allied Missions
Soviet Missions
Command & Conquer: Red Alert boasts naval units and player-controlled
airstrike capability over its predecessor, and they certainly add an
extra dimension to real-time combat! If you're just graduating from C&C,
however, the thought of controlling these new units with any semblance
of cool can seem a bit overwhelming. So, to ease the burden, here's a
mission-by-mission rundown of Red Alert, brought to you free of charge
by operatives on both sides of the Iron Curtain.
First, a few general tactics that apply to every mission:
Power. Always try to eliminate enemy power stations. This cripples their
production capability and disables their defenses.
Destroy the enemy ore trucks. This will usually end enemy armored attacks.
Beware of an immediate counterstrike, however.
When engaged in tank battles, focus the fire of all your tanks on one of
theirs. Take their tanks out one at a time and quickly. This should minimize
damage to your units.
The Allies should use mines generously.
Use the lure tactic. Send one unit to get an enemy's attention, then lea
him into an ambush.
Be on the lookout for cash crates in remote corners of the maps or under
buildings. They're far more common in Red Alert than in the original Command
& Conquer.
Keep an eye on your ore truck. The computer will attack it, and the driver
isn't good at avoiding trouble (e.g. driving into enemy troop buildups).
Air attacks are less resource-intensive than ground invasions. Caution is
required, of course, but surgical airstrikes can cripple your enemy with
minimal losses. Send in your ground forces to mop up once enemy defenses
have been neutralized. Cruisers apply to the "hands-off" category, also.
