  1. WalzTextureReplacer Version 1.0

  3.         This program allows you to turn your DOOM 1 PWADS into DOOM 2 PWADS.
  4. This program is shareware.  In order to use this program you must promise not
  5. to bitch about how slow it is.  I have very little experience in programming
  6. as I am sure some of you are dying to point out.  As far as that goes I 
  7. couldn't give a sh*t.  Use it at your own risk (in other words if your
  8. computer explodes don't chase me down.)  As far as I know this program works
  9. fine.  I am sure there are some bugs I haven't found, but this program is  
  10. was only made to hold me over until somebody else made a good one.
  11. It is VERY SLOW however.  A 300Kb file can take around 30 minutes or
  12. more depending on your computer.  It was written in Modula-2 so I was very
  13. limited.  What the program does is search the old wad file for doom 1 texture
  14. strings and replaces them with ones that can be used in doom 2.

  18. HINT: IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAVE YOURSELF ALOT OF TIME WHEN TRANSFORMING PWADS
  19. THEN BACKUP THE TEXT.DAT FILE AND EDIT THE ORIGINAL.  ERASE ANY WHOLE LINES
  20. WHERE YOU THINK THEY MAY NOT BE NEEDED.  (In other words, if the pwad just 
  21. covers level 1 then delete all the "ExMX=MAPxx." with the exception of
  22. "E1M1=MAP01.")

  24. You can easily change the substiuted textures by editing the TEXT.DAT file.

  35. To use the program, put a pwad file in it's directory.

  37. type "wlztext"

  39. answer the questions (the first one asks whatthe file to be modified is, and 
  40. the second asks what the destinations name is.)
